No, I didn't buy a bike. That's not what this thread is about.

The fun news is: I actually knew what I was looking for and what to ask about. I left the store feeling delighted, remembering my miserable bike shopping trip a few years ago.

I was really, really aware of how much valuable information I've learned reading this forum, so I guess this thread is a sort of "thank you."

I can't agree more. When I go to my LBS, I at least sound like I've tried to learn and ask the right questions - all because of this forum and the great advice and wisdom provided here.

I'm starting to shop for a new bike right now, and have visited 6 shops in the last week.

I have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for, and have gotten good advice and information for the most part as I am narrowing down the choices. However, two of the shops did not really know their products well enough to tell me the smallest sizes available in a particular brand! (And I knew the answer to that question).

Which bike(s) are you looking at?

I'm looking in the $2000 price range (carbon, 105 components).
But I have questions still (probably need to move them to a different thread).

Anyway- Pam that's really great- I meant to say that in my first post. And second the "thanks" as well

I couldn't agree more, Pam, I've learned a lot here on TE as well---and not just about bikes:D Thanks from me as well. I love to shop for bikes and it is nice when you are able to walk in the shop and know what you are talking about.

I agree. So much to learn here:) Thanks everyone! So nice that my very athletic husband looks to me for biking info. He knows I've done my research Right Here! When we recently purchased our new bikes, I felt like we had good info. No Facebook for me. I have TE;)

I always considered this site a wealth of information. It is so nice to know what I am talking about in the cycling field matched with the love of the sport, the excitement just spews (sp/)out in conversation. Of course then I have my daughter telling people, "oh know, don't get her started" lol
