Hi, I'm new to the forum and find that there's lots of very helpful info here!
Hoping for some advice regarding rear derailleur.

I ran over a small limb which got caught in the spoke and bent rear derailleur. Can this be bent back into place?........or will i need to have it replaced? And does anyone know how expensive it is to replace? I have a low end Trek mountain bike.

Thanks

That depends on how badly bent it is. Bike shop mechanics are used to bending derailleurs back into line on low-end bikes. Take it to your LBS and ask them if it can be straightened. If it needs to be replaced, it would probably cost $30-60 plus labor.

Deb has already given you some great advice, the one thing that I might add is to ask the LBS to check your dropout. The dropout is the area where the derailleur threads into, this too could be bent. It's generally something that can either be straightened or replaced if need be.

Yes, that's bent too. :( I'll be taking it into LBS.

Thanks for responding!
