Last year I tried out a women's only track night & liked it but didn't feel I had the right skills to continue on. I promised myself that i'd return & joined a good cycling group to be comfortable w riding with others, riding at speed, cornering, drafting etc. I also have been doing some nice core strength stuff to help w balance. Track's so much fun and beneficial to mtn biking/road so i really want to do more. Another thing is being able to calm down, breathe and remind myself it's all cool when riding fast!

A good friend suggested I venture along to a beginners (kids actually) session that's coached. So, tonight I did. The lady that gave me pointers i believe is a world champ and we discussed what I wanted to be able to do.

Anywho, it was awesome! I went from the blue line at the bottom, to the next line to the next! Not quite sure about going over 40km/hr yet but little bits a time.

My AHA! moment was realizing the corners aren't frightening if you look beyond them!!! Why didn't I think of that..Same applies to dirt n road..

Def be going next week!

Hurrah! That sounds fantastic and so motivating! Are you getting better weather now to ride in?

Not the past couple of days..36C yesterday by 11am & 39C today..

I did 100k yesterday & the last 20 were aghgghgh. There was no wind, no shade and was getting a bit desperate to get home as it was freaking hot. I filled up my 750ml water bottles right before this section & all was gone when i got home. In one I had plain water to throw on my head & the other my drink mixture. It was one of those "ahhh..cool air" when i opened the door to my house.

I work 1 morning a week atm & wondered what the temp would be at noon when I left. Urhgghghghg, it was 39C..i've never been so desperate for shade. I took the train part way home as when it gets hot, all i want to do is slow down for some reason. I think i might discuss that...

It's now #*%$$&&$ humid & no clue if we'll get any relief. Good thing tomorrow's a swim day...

Hey that is a great quote. Seems like it may apply to life in general. It's almost a bumper sticker. :D
