I just stumbled across THIS with photos (http://www.chuckibis.com/chuck_spew/2010/11/16/sf-hill-ride/) from an annual ride in San Francisco. All I can say is WOW! There is an incredible shot about a quarter of the way down the page of a guy riding up the driveway of the Levi (jeans) mansion - my legs started burning just looking at this photo :o

Cool! I have a hard enough time driving some of those hills in my manual transmission... :D

I had a hard time just walking up a couple of them, all sweaty and overheated, and that was on a chilly day!

Okay, I live in the Bay Area, and can't imagine ever doing that ride! Crazy awesome pictures!

We did the Nike San Fran Women's Marathon and I thought we went up some steep hills. I guess not! :D

That looks CRAZY! Crazy cool!!!!

My legs give out at about 18%.

Fantastic photos!! I'd absolutely LOVE to take on those hills in such a beautiful city as San Francisco.

The view from Twin Peaks is the best ever; I've been there several times and would love riding the ascent and descent to the peaks at some point.

Several Phil phrases come to mind looking at those photos: "He's going into the pain cave now" ... "he's popped" ... "his suitcase of courage is empty" ... "he's throwing out the sand bags now!" ... "shut your eyes, shut your mind to the pain" ... "the elastic has snapped!" :)

That's funny!!! And I heard his voice saying every one of them as I read this. :D

I sent that link to my (non-biking) friend who is a native of SF. She sent them on to her cousin who does cycle, and who plans to visit SF soon. Supposed to be inspiration for him...

Inspirational or no, really great photos.
