This gent was named Australian local hero of the year @ Australia day ceremonies yesterday. (having a few computer issues..need to post full link)

I think it's proof that no matter what technology's out there to "help" save folks..a human voice goes a long long way.

Of all the Australia Day stories we heard yesterday, I think this one's the coolest.

reminds me of the bridge (http://www.thebridge-themovie.com/new/index.html). One of the rare survivors was video taped as being clearly distraught, walking around aimlessly crying and NOBODY bothered to stop to ask if he was ok. One loser tourist even had the nerve to ask him to take a picture!

I think he had said something like if anyone had stopped to ask him what was wrong or offered some kind of kindness he wouldn't have jumped.
