Ahhh, those halcyon 1980's days, when we had such hope for the future....

"Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground" made me think of "Hoist the Colours"

Yay, freedom, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!

(and if you find that depressing, listen to "Hava Nagila" by Joe Quijano to cheer you up, but good luck finding an audio file of it... cuz I can't)

I've been in a mood for instrumental music lately. The latest one is John Adorney's The Fountain. I guess you would put it in the New Age category.

Funny, I haven't listened to New Age in years, but yesterday I just was in the mood - Chris Spheeris.
I'm listening to John Adorney now, never heard of him before. Nice quiet music.
I'm also a die-hard rock fan, but I'm stuck on Lady Antebellum

DH and I watched a movie on New Year's Eve that was set in the 1980s. The credits rolled to an old and somewhat obscure INXS song. So, we created an INXS Pandora station that night. Most of what came up was Depeche Mode, U2, the Cure, and the like. It took me back to my high school/early college years. I wouldn't want to listen to it all the time but it was fun for a bit.

Otherwise, I'm not listening to much other than NPR.

Right now just the rattle, rattle, rattle from the heat vent in my office. I should plug-in to my Pandora... Billy Joel, James Taylor, that sorta thing. Not too big on the stuff playing on the Radio these days.

I haven't clue --there is music. Am in the hotel lobby on a Internet computer in Banff, Alberta. It's to serenade the labourer redoing lobby tile and the receptionist.

Roadie gal, if you are in the mood for instrumental and you like a good guitar, actually a REALLY darned good guitar, try Jesse Cook.

My students giggling because someone farted. The room was totally silent for a test.

I must not have had enough coffee this morning, because I completely mis-parsed that sentence! :o There was a very strange mental picture involved.

Anyway, currently playing is a Chopin piano sonata. I don't know which one, though.

This is a sweet, kind of sad song. Visually stunning video, too.

Today my jouhikko/tagelharpa (archaic fiddle-type instrument of Finland/Sweden/Estonia) arrived from England. so I'm listening to my horeshair bow on the twisted horsehair strings, making unfortunate sounds as though someone was dragging a chair across the room. :p And I'll be listening to it for weeks to come, if not months.
Good thing my husband (an excellent fiddler) is very very patient and understanding.

I know what a nyckelharpa is... but could you post a pic of the jouhikko/tagelharpa so we could see?

Cherish the Ladies, Solas, Capercaillie, and the Chieftains. I've been learning tin whistle, so I'm on a Celtic music kick.

I got a $25 Itunes for Christmas, my favorite thing I bought? "Atlantic City" by The Band. "Put your make-up on, fix your hair up pretty, meet me tonight in Atlantic City." I also got a bunch of Ryan Bingham and Jamey Johnson off my husband's CDs. Love them both!

Martha Argerich performing Liszt's first Piano Concerto with the LSO under Abbado. With the volume turned up until I can't hear civilization crumbling around me. It's what I've listened to on nights like these for 33 years.

I bought the vinyl (which also includes Chopin's 1st) from someone who was clearing out her dorm room and having a little sale on the quad. She'd studied the piece the semester before and was ready to pass it on. Best thing I've ever bought at a "yard" sale.
