*sigh*... so hubby finally got his dream bike... he looked... and looked... and looked... and decided on an isaac impulse... GORGEOUS bike! did it up in record.... nokon cables.... uhm... those really light brakes (name escapes me.. airhead moment!) etc etc etc!

first we have an issue with getting the danged thing built by the LBS... now we're talking a rinky dink town... small lbs that sells $300 to $500 bikes for the most part.... but we finally got him off his lazy arse and got it built...

THEN hubby almost crashed when the bottom bracket slipped... why? cuz it wasn't tightened correctly! good thing it was him and not me.. cuz i KNOW i woulda crashed! in the process... the chain drops and bends a spoke (on the campy wheels).... lbs sorta gripes about the price of spokes (my thought.. oh well.. shoulda built the bike correctly!) drove to palm desert and had another lbs give it a once over...

then we're getting ready for a century... and hubby notices the frame is cracked! (this bike has less than 800 miles on it.. it's still so new!)

so we take it back to the lbs... and he holds it for over a week before he ever ships it! and the only reason he took it that day he did.. was cuz we had stopped in and both of us got a bit testy (me more than him)

so the distributor gets the bike back... and they are supposed to immediately send out the replacement (the bike has NOT been crashed or abused.... and the crack is no where near the bottom bracket.. so that didn't cause it)

a week later they still haven't shipped the bike... and call my husband giving him the spanish inquisition (all questions they had called the lbs a week earlier and asked)...

so they say last week.. "ok.. we'll ship it"... we call every day asking the lbs if it came yet... (and i tell hubby: make him call and get a tracking number.. but mike (lbs owner) is too laid back GRRRRRRRRRRRR to do it)

so today hubby calls and they haven't shipped it yet and... yep... everyone but some pogue is in vegas!

hubby said to ship it overnight... and they said no... he called me and told me that.. and i told him.. if it were my bike... i'd be telling them: ship it overnight or give me my money back! so he did.... and they said he had to go through his lbs... so he did.. and naturally the lbs isn't happy... he'll have to poop some money out of his pocket... his profit!

i mean.. he's ticked (hubby)... but he's been without a $6000 bike for over a month! what the heck up with that?????????????????????????? all they have to do is spend a couple bucks to ship it ovenight (their disregard for not shipping it last week!

UGH!

we WILL use a different lbs when he orders the next frame to replace this one!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR just had to vent!

now i'm going home and going climbing!

Oh, I am so sorry about his brand new baby! Something tells me there will be smoke coming off the pavement tonight.

Cali, I feel your pain. I am (hopefully) near the end of a VERY frustrating run of events along these lines. It's like nobody seems to care. Or, rather the "action" person just goes his own pace and cannot be prodded to get things moving. I've tried to be the "patient girl", but that's running thin.

I hope things are resolved for you and your husband soon. And I hope it's all worth it in the end.

I feel your pain.

My LBS has loaned me one of their bikes anytime my baby is in the shop for an extended period. He has a Della Santa that is close to my size, makes adjustments and away I go.

Does your POS bike shop have a loaner so at least you can ride??????

That's kind of worrying that the frame was cracked, what's up with that??? I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

i was actually more upset about the frame being cracked than he was.... he's giving giving them the benefit of the doubt that it's one flawed frame that got by them..... i was really glad he saw it before putting the bikes on the truck to leave for the ride rather than having a catastrophic failure on the ride!

fortunately... he still has his other bike so he's been able to ride at least! but it's annoying when you have that much money tied up in a bike... and you can't even ride it!

he spent last evening looking at other bikes... and the ones within the same cost area as the isaac... just don't do anything for him... and i'm not willing to add a couple thousand (or even another thousand) to get some of the other frames he's looked at and likes (serrotta ottrot... ya sure!)

i think he's just gonna bite the bullet and tell them to send the frame and wait... since they aren't willing to do the right thing and send it express  for a company that's trying to get established in the states... you would think they would cater to their customers more to get that "word of mouth" thing going... he likes the frame... just hates the distributor here in the states and they are gonna be isaac's downfall if they keep it up!

oh.... and the reason he went with the bike shop he did... was to give him some business... since isaac had no dealers close to us (closest one 3 hours away) oshner said he could pick a bike shop... so he decided to choose mikes... we've used him for tune ups before... and we was always good... and rides with the guys my hubby rides with sometimes... our first clue that this wasn't a good idea... mike drug his feet getting prices and quotes for us... we had the money and were ready to buy.... we'd call and he'd say "i'm working on it... i'm so busy" (but when we'd go in the shop.. he'd be sitting behind the counter or chatting with friends... UGH!)

but we stuck with him..... then... as i already mentioned... getting him to put it together once he had the framre.... grrrrrr he just doesn't appear to have ANY sense of urgency.... very laid back!

he really ticked me off one day when we had dropped my bike off for a tune up and his after the bottom bracker fiasco (forget why his had to go BACK in).... told him when we'd be there to pick them up the next day (after work)... we arrived and he was outside smoking a cigarette talking to his buddies wife... and hubby's bike wasn't even done! when he saw us pull up... he quickly went back inside and got to work! THEN.... hubby looked at my bike... spun the wheel.... and pressed the brakes to stop it... the cable broke! so we ended up going to get something to eat while he finished and fixed mine!

ya.... we've already decided to drive the hour to the next closest bike shop for tune ups.... neither of us have a warm fuzzy!

we wouldn't have taken it isaac back to him... but when he called oshner.. they told him you HAVE to go through the bike shop.... he tried to tell them he didn't have confidence in him... *sigh*... we'll be taking it back to kevin in palm desert once it's rebuilt! UGH!

sheesh... that's ridiculous... loyalty only goes so far with me... I also expect service. Of course getting good service is what CREATES loyalty in me...

hope it all works out... and soon!
