I swapped out the the skewer from the trainer for the one that came with the bike. I was tightening the nut and somehow dug a chunk of skin out of my index finger, just below the nail. Minor, but ouch!
Guess she's angry about not being able to go outside for a few months.:o

Ow.
Dr. Malkin recommends a good wash followed by neosporin & a bandaid, because you never know and it's sometimes best not to find out.

Ouch is right!
BTW, you can go ahead and use the skewer you use on the trainer when you ride the bike outside--assuming it's tightened correctly. When I had a trainer, I didn't bother swapping out the trainer skewer until spring, i.e., when I knew I wouldn't be using the trainer again until winter.

The tightening issue is why I swapped them out. The nut on my skewer is easier to tighten--it's plastic-coated with finger-friendly ridges. The trainer skewer's nut is a smooth metal cone, so it's much harder to tighten with fingers. So while it says it can be used on the road, I'd rather not.
