The weather in Indiana has been far close to Feb than December - indeed November 20th was my last ride outside  :(

Tomorrow, or so we are told, will be 55 degrees, and no rain until after dark. Time to get re-acquainted with my bike :D My leg is feeling much better these days, and what remains is quite obviously not related to any muscle strains, so time to remember how to ride

Who else will be able to ride tomorrow?

Well I'm just outside of Chicago, in the western 'burbs. Temp here for tomorrow will be similar to yours....low 50's. But we are expected to get more rain throughout the day, and foggy conditions too. I may try and get out on the bike in the morning hours, if there is a dry "window" of about 2-3 hours...we'll see.

I'm not sure DH and I will get out on our road bikes, but we'll probably at least tool around town on our mountain bikes. I haven't really been in the mood to be on the road. If it weren't so soggy out, I think we'd be more inclined to hike. Maybe it'll be dry enough later this weekend for that.

Have fun and be safe!

Low 50s, but it's really wet, given the rain+melting snow. I need to get tires that are better on wet pavement.

Lower your tire pressure a bit; they should be fine. Now your brakes might be a different story . . . .:o If I'm out in the rain, I give myself a little extra braking distance and try to avoid any big downhills--which isn't hard in Central Indiana.

hmmm, I normally keep my 26-inch tires at full pressure - 70psi. Should I lower that for the wetter conditions or am I fine?

Frankly I do not know if I will actually be on the road tomorrow, or just ride 15-17 miles inside Eagle Creek. With the sunshine today I am tempted to ride - but it will be somewhere between 5-7 degrees warmer tomorrow and I went to spinning class this morning where I was able to really work it :) Don't want to do too much in the same day...

I will take whatever I can get tomorrow - it has been more than a month since my last ride :(

Today is cold, wet, rainy, with a chance of snow, but the front is going to leave tonight and leave arctic air behind in Tucson. It will be the coldest day of the year - NWS predicts a high of 44. I was just looking at the forecast, as a friend invited me to for a ride tomorrow. I'm lobbing for a 1 pm start time. Not sure how far we'll go- 20-25 miles? We might have to find a place for a hot mocha along the way.

Thanks for the tip, Indysteel! Catrin, my guess is that it depends on your tires. The manufacturer says mine are much happier on dry pavement, so...(Once I wear these out, my next set will be wet/dry.)

I'm debating heading over to the bike trail tomorrow, but that involves disentangling the bike from the trainer and removing the duct taped computer, then putting it back on again. I clearly need a second bike as well. ;)

ETA: Azfiddle, I hate to say this, but I love it when that happens. My boyfriend (who lives in Mesa) has a nasty habit of calling me and telling me how nice it is there. Mwahahah!

Ok, I understand now. I think my tires are fine, they are meant for different kinds of conditions.

I think you should meet me at Nebo Ridge when I got for my Gunnar fitting on the 14th and shop for a new bike :)

New year's eve here is predicted to be snowy with a high of 19. Probably not my best day for a ride.

Still, if all those silly people with their *^%$#@! cars would stay home...

I'm hoping to ride, finally. Supposed to be mid-50s w/sunshine. Only our second "above normal" temperature all month in NC!

I rode today. Was going to do a short easy ride tomorrow, but remembered I have to be somewhere and since I'm still recovering from Christmas, I am NOT a morning person these days! So I am not going to get up early enough to ride. I am planning to do about 44 miles on New Year's Day, though, with some friends. It will be the furthest I've been in a few months, ever since getting sick ... and then sick again ... and then rain ... and more rain .... and still more rain. Time to start building miles for my first century of the year, though ... so the miles will be a comin! :D

I just read that our predicted high of 19 will be followed by a low of 5.

It's COLD out there!

it's 9am and our temp has gone up to 26 - high today s/b 38. BUT ..... the sun is shining w/only a few wispy clouds. I think lots of bikes will be out this morning. Wind is supposed to pick up later in the afternoon.

We have family over NY day to watch football, play board games or card games, BBQ burgers, just have a nice relaxing day. So I think I'll ride 20 or 30 miles today after getting groceries.

Just got back from a VERY slow 36 miles. Other than 5 commutes, this was the first - and last - ride for me in the month of December. And it also is, I think, the first day the temps got out of the 30s all month! It is now 44 with high thin clouds.

I end the year about 35 miles shy of 4k for the year. Still a PR, but that 4k mark eludes me once again (as does 100 commute days, as I ended the year with 91 of those). Oh well. As they say, "there is always next year!"

It's the warmest day of December here in KY-- mid 50's and very windy. I'm planning on peddaling around town a bit later this afternoon, but right now UK v. Louisville (men's basketball) is on... not that I'm all that into men's basketball, but it's almost a requirement of all Kentuckians to watch this game.

I got out today, but not for as long as I wanted. I had wanted to do about 20 miles (to give me a nice round number to end the year with) on the bike trail. That didn't happen (mom needed my car), so I did loops around the neighborhood. My plan was to go until I got bored (about 8-10 miles, usually). A few things interfered. One, I wasn't anticipating it being 65 degrees. This was a bit of a problem because when I packed to go "home", I packed with the idea that my riding would be done on bike trails and in colder weather. I reserve my less-visible jerseys for the trail, so the most visible thing I had was the heavy sky blue one. Bit much for this weather! (I also managed to forget to bring water, but since I wasn't that far from my house.)

The other thing was the wind. It doesn't say it's that windy, but if the bike starts wobbling...I managed about 5 non-flat (yay!) miles before packing it in. I'm a little bummed about the distance, but I managed 15-16mph with a stiff headwind.
Puts me at about 215 miles for the year. Less than half of what I wanted, but more than twice as much as last year!

I had a beautiful ride and it was 58 degrees! Windy, but I went to my favorite park - the combination of trees/topography generally means the winds are calmer there.

I hit every hill in the park and did fine, though I can tell I've lost a little hill-climbing strength in my protracted recovery period. That wasn't a surprise though - capped my ride at 15 miles since I didn't want to over-do things. It felt glorious to be back on my bike and this gave me a total of 1,827 miles for 2010. Not bad for a beginner who basically spent 3 months off the bike due to injuries.

I'm happy to hear that some of you got out to ride today! :) Unfortunately, the rain came early and heavy, which took care of my plans to ride 41 miles today. Oh well...I'm okay with that. My total mileage for 2010 will end up at 6,959 miles. I'm so very proud of that!

I rode today! Missouri, rain until about 1:30 and then the sun came out. It's the first time I've ridden just for pleasure in a long time! ( As opposed to commuting which I do year round. My students think I am nuts)

Hooray! After some of the coldest Dec. weather NC has had in a while, we had temps in the mid 50s today, and I was able to do 25 miles with a few friends. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 60s :D I'm hoping I can find time to go out for at least a short ride by myself to welcome the New Year!

It was 60 today in Chapel Hill, and DH and I got out for 12.3 miles. Oh, it felt so good! My last ride before that was Nov. 22, then the bottom dropped out of the temps. Warmest day in weeks! :D

Happy New Year to all of you!!

I've been reading the thread and though I've never had a problem not being able to get out and ride in the winter here I have to say that sometimes it is just toooooo hot for riding. Such as yesterday where it was meant to get to 43C. Being a fatty boom bah I suffer terribly in the heat so I missed riding for the last day of 2010. However I have just clocked up a 50km ride this morning as temps are a bit more manageable today. And what a fabulous year 2011 is going to be!!!

Happy 2011 to all.

I got out early this morning to beat the heat - it's 37 degrees Celsius here in Canberra today (that's almost 99 degrees farenheit for all you non-metrics). So just a short ride of 26 kms around our lake (16 miles) before escaping home to air conditioning.

And I almost got attacked by a snake! It was on the path with its head raised and as I approached it slithered off the path back into the grass. Phew!

Pootler - you did much better with 50 kms today - how's the temp in Adelaide?
