What are you doing for New Year's Eve?

DGF and I are staying home, watching football and munching - I think there's pizza, moz cheese rolls, other unhealthy snacks.

Everyone have a Happy & Safe New Years.

It's DD's 21st birthday. After a delicious supper, we're all (DD, her DBF, DH & I, and another couple) are going to the symphony.

Happy, safe New Year's to everyone!

My partner and I are going off to London for a party with friends and I can't wait.

My favourite day of the year has always been New Years Day.

Next year just has to be better than this year!

We're having dinner at a local Moroccan restaurant with friends, and than an early bed time because we have to work Saturday.

I like the sounds of NYE yoga :)

We'll be at the Thorn Hill Inn in Jackson, NH. This is the 3d New Years we've spent there, since 2005. Can you tell that we like the place? We are leaving tomorrow AM, coming back Sunday. They also got a good amount of snow, but now, the temperature is going up. Hopefully, we won't have melting, sticky snow for x country skiing. Probably will do some snow shoeing, too. The inn has outstanding breakfasts and dinners on any day, and the New Years Eve celebration is even better. It's the first time we've gone without our friends, though. I might have to "talk to strangers."

Stay home, watch football, eat cheese and crackers, depeding on the game(s) watch one of the Indiana Jones movies, watch the ball drop in NY (on TV of course) then go to bed. Get up New Year's Day and watch the Rose parade and settle in for a full day of college bowl games.

I'm making coq au vin for my DH and then we're tipping back some yummy champagne. Knowing me, I'll be asleep by 11. We don't typically do much for NYE. We'll probably just spend the night exclaiming at how cute the kitten is--the same as most nights. Feel free to make fun of us! :)

I like that. I swear we actually do have a life, but most of our activity is during the day. At night, I'm pretty much a homebody, as is my DH. This time of year, I like nothing more than to curl up with a book or movie, a blanket and my cats. Well, one of my cats. The kitten is not a cuddler.

Happy New Year to all! I look forward to sharing 2011 with all of you.

I'll be going to bed, on time, as I'm doing a Christmas Bird Count on New Year's day. Rendezvous time is 8:00, and fortunately I don't have far to drive. But with all day field work, I'll need my sleep.

Hoping for new species of birds to add to my Life List.

We're having a big party! We've invited about 50 people (keep in mind we live in a 900 sq ft apartment) but probably no more than 20-30 will show up. I'm making appies and we're serving bubbles at midnight. I love parties. :) Sort of going all-out this year. I was sort of dissatisfied with our New Year's Eve events in the previous years, so I thought there was no better way than organize my own. It's really giving a purpose to my coming two days!!

I have to teach a morning indoor-cycling class on New Years Day (I wonder how the room is going to smell after that...maybe a combination of leftover alcohol fumes?) So anyway, it'll be a early evening.

Still we'll do our usual "eating our way into the New Year" with King crab, some homemade bread, roasted garlic (that should spice up my class the next day:p) and some good wine.

Happy New Year everyone! Keep it safe!

Nothing special for us...just staying home and watching a Netflix movie (The Expendables). Probably won't even stay up to ring in the New Year. On most nights, I can barely keep my eyes open past 9 o'clock. :D I plan on either going to the gym or heading outside for a 4 mile jog on NYD...so I'll be up early either way.

Probably just home gourmet meal for ourselves. I haven't got a tv. He'll make herbed spaetzel (a sort of German pasta), etc.

We're saving ourselves for out of town trip next week when rates are cheaper. In Banff, AB area for snowshoeing.

Now THIS sounds like fun, hopefully the weather will cooperate with you. All I am planning on doing NY morning, assuming that I get up early enough, is to go to a free Pilates Reformer class at my club. While there is an additional charge for those classes they do make them free on holidays. I think it is, basically, a teaser to encourage people to purchase classes.

This sounds like a nice way to spend a winter evening! My NY eve will be pretty low key. There is something at church tomorrow evening, then will come home and light a fire - and assuming I stay up past 11 will "ring in the new year" with a good book and a beer. Or snoring, time will tell which!

All of the plans sound like a lot of fun!

I'm meeting up in the morning with a friend from high school. We're going to get coffee and go to the used book store. Then a bike ride if I can get out to the trail before it rains, and after that...uh, be a lazy bum.

My sister's to a friend's house. She has a better social life than I do.

My parents have all the grandkids over for a big sleepover. That leaves DH and I free to do whatever we want. But we've always wanted to stay in we're so exhausted.

This year we have early dinner plans with a large group of friends. I was hoping to do some xcountry skiing afterwards, but the snow is all gone.

New Year's day we always run a 10k race. It's tradition. It starts at 11:11:11 this year in honor of 1/01/11. :)

It's funny I haven't posted in so long but here I am. My sister is coming for a visit today (we haven't seen each other since June) we are going to make chocolate chip cookies and stuffed mushrooms. Then grabbing DH and heading to our friends for our annual $.05 poker white elephant party! Should be a blast. But I didn't get much sleep last night so hopefully I can get a nap in!

everyone's plans sound fun!

We're going to a friend's house for our annual pajama party and game-athon (wii and playstation games).
We always have a contest for who has the best pajamas. I'm going old school classy 1920's pajamas tonight.
Tomorrow at noon I'm doing the Polar Bear Plunge into the frigid lake. Should be fun!!

Today we'll be making oliebollen (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Oliebollen-Dutch-Doughnuts/Detail.aspx), a traditional Dutch New Year's Eve treat (and so healthy too! :p). Last year we were actually in Holland for NYE, enjoying the outrageous neighborhood fireworks - I'll sure miss that this year!

Our usual MO is to watch an old classic movie and make a gourmet meal and stay off the roads. This year we were actually going to a party involving lots of food and wine and folk/bluegrass music played by the hosts and their band but alas, our weather - sleet, freezing rain, snow... forced a postponment until next Sat. Soooo, we are staying in, watching an old classic and making homemade pizza.

DH and I are going to a cycling buddy's house for a little while and then coming back to our neighborhood to finish the night out at a friend's house that is within walking distance! Don't know if we will make it to midnight or not. We are pretty wimpy about staying up late these days.

I had planned to head to church tonight, but then my voice dropped at least an octave, started coughing...so I am at home tonight watching Wild, Wild West. Getting ready to start a fire and open a beer - if I can stay up until midnight great, if not, then that is good as well.

Tomorrow is supposed to be 25 degrees colder than today, it couldn't last. Will head to the club tomorrow morning if I am feeling a little better for some exercise/endorphins, and tomorrow afternoon will go hiking with a friend. Not a bad way to ring in a new year!

Well, NYE is a good night for driving the northeast corridor. There was very little traffic and no construction delays.

Now I'm watching the shows my dvr recorded while I was away and drinking Bailey's Irish Cream. I just had some really good carrot cake, too.

BTW my cousin gave me a bottle of good Jamaican rum. What's the best way to enjoy rum that's too smooth to bury in a pina colada?

NY Biker there are many ways to enjoy a good rum! Rum mixed with your favorite fruit juice and perhaps some soda water, in apple cider and then heated (one of my winter faves), hot buttered rum with a dash of nutmeg and cinnamon and there's always the classic: rum and coke. Have fun experimenting! :D

I stayed up past midnight this year! After x country skiing almost 9 miles, I rested and then drank a cup of coffee at the beautiful Inn at Thorn Hill in Jackson, NH. Our reservation in the dining room was at 9 PM, so we sat in the bar for about a half hour and watched the various people... I made up names for all of them! Every night is a 3 course dinner at Thorn Hill, but it was a bit more festive on NYE, with decorations, etc. We were done around 11:20, so back into the lounge we went, ordered a split of champagne (actually Prosecco) and back to people watching we went. One couple looked like a much older woman with a younger guy, so I started calling him the gigolo. Silly, yes, but we had a good laugh. The next morning, on closer looking, I realized she just had an old fashioned haircut and clothes. Then there was the very inebriated couple, dancing in the middle of the bar, very aggressively swing dancing, bumping into DH's chair. Well, we watched the ball drop on the tV, finished our drinks and went to bed. Too bad I couldn't sleep!
