Spare pump - how do you carry?

My parents bought me a crank brothers power pump to take with me on rides in case of emergency. However, the pump is too big to carry with tire levers and a tube in the seat pack I have (a Krieg from TE). My seat pack is pretty small, so considering a bigger one. Is that the recommended way to carry it with you on rides?

I may be courting fate, but I only have a CO2 cartridge. I do carry a pump in my seat bag on the mtb, but it's easily twice the size of the bag I have on the road bike.

My bikes both have attachments on the frame that the pump clips into, the local bike shop did that for me. I think it's a pretty straightforward job, if you have a local shop you trust to do the work. They can put a clip on for a waterbottle too, if you don't already have one.

I use CO2 for my road bike for road emergencies. Otherwise I use a floor pump.

I use a Lezyne frame mini-pump and it came with a water bottle mount (you mount it on the same brazens that the bottle cage mounts on). I'm surprised that the Crank Brothers pump didn't come with its own mount, as many mini pumps do these days. As a backup, I also always carry (in my Topeak seat bag) a C02 inflater with 2 extra cartridges.

I was surprised as well that it didn't come with brackets to mount. I don't think it occurred to my mom to even think about that (although the LBS should have asked - they could have made more $$).

A bidon-cage mount is the most common for on-bike storage. I use a bidon mount on the mtb, behind the seatpost on the tourer and jersey pocket for a smaller pump for the roadie.

I've seen them attached with a couple strips of double sided velcro, the kind that sticks to itself. Two velcro strips are wrapped around both the pump and the top tube, one toward each end of the pump.

+1 on the under bottle frame mount mini pump on my bike. I just took off the water bottle and the pump mounted right under the cage for the H2O.

I do not carry CO2 cartridges because pumps are much more reliable. On my Luna, I carry a small pump in my jersey back pocket. On my Bike Friday, my pump is held on underneath the tube by skinny bungee cords (but a water bottle mount would work well on a non-folding bike). On my Jamis I ride with panniers (errand bike) so I just carry my pump in the panniers. I have three pumps for three bikes (plus a floor pump).

I like having a roomy saddlebag on both my bikes. No problems carrying anything. :p I keep a small pump in there, along with my maps and cable-lock etc. I even keep a bungee cord in my saddlebag too, so I can strap a fresh loaf of bread on top of the bag to take home from the bakery while I'm passing through town on the way home after a ride.
