View Full Version : Sick as a dog, again.

Our poor Doodlebug is sick again. He coughed more than usual yesterday. Today he is coughing and gagging, and his poor throat is all swollen. I hope we can get him in to see the vet before Christmas. He's coming to Denver with us. I suppose if we need to, he can always see Lucy's vet (Lucy is my parents' Airedale). I hope this isn't a trend.

Oh no! Hoping Doodlebug's condition isn't serious. :( Having a sick doggie is very tough, and the holidays only make it worse.

My sympathies, and I hope Doodlebug gets to feeling better. I did the mad-dash to Bonnie Cat's vet yesterday evening. How do our fur babies know when we 1) don't really have time for this, or 2) have a few extra bucks? Seems THAT's when they get sick!

At lunchtime he couldn't even open his mouth. I offered him a small bit of cooked turkey from my sandwich. He sniffed it sadly and walked away (not normal Retriever behavior). His throat is much more swollen than it was this morning. He has a vet appointment at 5:00.

He's back in a neck bandage and on antibiotics and pain meds. He looks so pathetic right now. :( He's such a sweet, gentle boy, the vet just loves him.

So sorry to hear of Doodlebug's (love that name!) problems. Hope he's on the mend very soon.

Ooo :eek: that doesn't sound like much fun. Soup? Can he drink? Hope he gets to feeling better soon!

I think the pain meds are helping. He's taking a good nap (paws twitching). :D

Much better, thanks. Pain meds for a few more days. Antibiotics for another week. His tail is wagging, and, our daughter said, "He's back to being annoying. He must be feeling better.":p
