The LBS called this afternoon...and...SHE'S HERE! I finally made a decision after testing riding the Roubaix & Tarmac this weekend (the WSD didn't feel right). Anyway...I was going to order the 2011 Tarmac SL3 Expert. My hubby & I went in on Monday to order it & they tell me that it'll be on backorder until mid to late January. I was soooo bummed! Little did I know that my amazing husband had already talk to them about it when he brought the test bikes back. They mentioned giving me a good deal on the 2011 Pro Sram. Sooooooo...we ordered her Monday afternoon & she's in my living room tonight! My husband got an AMAZING deal on her. He also got them to throw in a new Jett saddle & a shorter stem. With tax & all, we saved about $1100-1200. I'm so dang excited! It's supposed to be a nice sunny 70 degree day on Saturday with only 5-10mph winds. I feel so lucky, so happy & so blessed all at once. Never in my life could I have imagined having a bike as nice as this. I get fitted tomorrow!

Just wanted to say thanks again to all of you ladies who answered my silly questions during my search for my first NICE road bike. I'll post a few picks after I get her all decked out. :D

I hope this works. I've never posted a pic before. Ok...if you can see the pic...it's already dark outside so the flash, etc. doesn't look so good. Not much of a photographer for sure. Oh...sorry about the plastic on the handlebars still. I know I'll have to take that off tomorrow, but I'm sure gonna hate when that pretty white turns brown. ;)

Beautiful bike!!! And I'm envious that you can go out tomorrow and ride in 70 degree weather. It's COOOOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDDD and snowing up here in Michigan.

Great looking bike, congrats!

Would you mind providing details as to what you didn't like about the Roubaix and what didn't "feel right" about the WSD?

Thanks.

This is going to sound silly, but remember...this is just me. I've been a powerlifter & pro bodybuilder since 1996. So...because of the extra muscle & power that I already have, the Roubaix just didn't feel as fast & stiff as I thought I'd like. If I wouldn't have ever ridden the Tarmac, I would have definitely gotten the Roubaix. The Roubaix was definitely more comfortable. The crappy chip seal roads we have around here were really dulled by the Roubaix. The Tarmac...is a speed machine...pure muscle. That's what my body knows. It just felt right for what my body knows & has been doing these past almost 15 years.

So...as for the WSD. I went in & tried out a Ruby & Amira. They both felt like I was really squished up for some reason. Hopefully I didn't make a huge mistake with the Tarmac. :D They changed out the stem for a much shorter one & it seems perfect. We went for a 50+ mile ride today and it felt great(ish)...I've never ridden that far before. The Jett saddle was a little uncomfortable. I've never ridden on it before. Maybe it's just going to get some getting used to. Anyway...I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with the Ruby or Amira though. I'd give them a try if you're looking into one.

Hey ladies...did it take a few rides before you were completely comfortable with your saddle? I've got the Jett (143mm) & it was a little...rough on the sitbones. The girly bits were just fine though. This is the first time I've taken the bike out, so I'm hoping it'll feel "better" with each ride. :p

Ooh, so nice! I just got a fast bike, too. Can't wait to ride it...but I'm in MI where a blizzard is on the way, so it may be a while...like months. :p Enjoy your stunning new ride! :D

Yay Zoom Zoom! It's exciting isn't it. Sounds silly but it almost feels better than getting a new car or something. I hate that the snow will keep you from riding. It's in the 60's here. Doesn't sound too bad, but the wind is insane. We rode today a little over 50 miles...BUT...the wind was 20-30mph with 35-40mph gusts. It's like that a lot in west Texas. We rode out with the wind nearly at our back so coming back...headwinds almost the whole way back. Not fun at all. I guess I should be thankful we were able to ride though. :D

Hope the snow doesn't last toooooo long! You've gotta get out there & ride that fast machine! ;)

I'm a newbie at this bike thing, but that wind is no joke. Love seeing the pics of the awesome new bikes!

Hi bonnypriest - your new bike is a beauty - may you have many happy miles.

Re your saddle question - I have a Jett saddle and so far it is the most comfortable one I've tried. I haven't been riding for a while and this week-end backed up two days in a row and this morning when I got on the bike the sit bones let me know that they went used to riding two days in a row. But after a couple of miles it was fine.

I've got a Specialized Amira Expert - women's version of yours I think. I didn't like the saddle that came with it ( a ruby) and since I've swapped it for the Jett life on the bike has been much happier.

So I'm hopeful for you that you'll like the Jett once you've put in a few miles on it.

Thanks for the info macski! I rode again today for about 20 miles. Kinda sore for sure, but felt better after a mile or so. Hopefully I'll get used to it. If not, I'm going to have to double check the size of the saddle or something. The bike shop said that was the right size, but I'm not so sure.

Ooh, your winds sound awful. When we get cross-winds like that I stay home. Because of where we live it's hard to go East and we can't go west without hitting Lake MI. When we have strong winds from either direction I tend to bail. It's just too difficult to stay upright when it gusts. Stay safe with your new beauty.

Yep, I hope I can get out soon, too...but it's not looking likely for a while. Even if the snow all melts and leaves clear pavement it will be covered in salt and sand. I don't know that I want to get that all over my bike if it's avoidable.

bonnypriest - have your sit bones measured by the LBS? I tried riding on a 143 and it killed me because I need a 155 (actually I'm in between the two so the larger is more comfortable).

Great looking bike. It looks like it matches your decor! :) Dont worry about the bar tape, it may not get that bad for a while and is easily replaced!

I rode a Tarmac and liked it quite a bit but the wheels that were on the model I rode were distracting me. They were terrible.

As for the Jett, I have heard mixed things about it. Personally it looks too cushy for me. I think you have put enough miles in to say that it isnt working for you.

Thanks macski...I've gotta get that done. I have a feeling it's just that...too small for my bootie/sit bones. :D

arielmoon...I swear I thought I had a little more color in my house than white. :D That tile & door came with the house when we bought it. It is definitely WHITE though. Hehehe! Geez...I'm looking around and EVERYTHING is white or beige. What's up with that. My kitchen has red walls. But...everything else really is pretty darn neutral. Gotta take care of that I think.

As for the Jett saddle...it definitely doesn't feel cushy. Ouch! I think I'm gonna have to take "macski's" advice on getting measured. That thing can't be right.
