Can someone recommend a child trailer that I can get for my grandbaby that is durable. Are there any I should stay away from?

how old is your grandbaby?

i like the chariot cougar that is what we have and are very happy with it. my son likes it as well. i like that he can comfortable wear his bike helmet while in it.

I have a Burley for my granddaughter and she also can ride with a helmet on and be comfortable. There is room for two children and there is a shoulder harness as well as a seat belt. I find it to be very easy to attach to the bicycle and it is VERY lightweight. Good for you for wanting to get one! It starts them early wearing a helmet and knowing that "older" people like to ride, too!!! :D

My grandson is 6 months. I decided to go with the Burley Bee. It was relatively low in price, compared to some and had great reviews. I found it online and I got a Bell toddler helmet free with the purchase, as well as free shipping. The price was $248...the helmet sales for about $39 so I felt like this was a good deal. Thanks for your help!

i recommend waiting until he is at least a year old. he needs to have a head large enough to fit the helmet well and strong enough muscles to hold his head up with the helmet while on a bumpy ride. i have heard of people riding with 9 months old. seems safer to wait though.

Thank you. There is a baby snuggler that Burley makes. I was thinking about getting it. It looks a lot like a a baby carrier that sits inside the trailer. I may be jumping ahead of myself. I have so enjoyed riding my bike that I can't wait for my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson to enjoy it too! I got my daughter and son-in-law some used Trek bikes for Christmas.

I have 3 separate friends who have ridden with their infants in trailers at age 6-8 months. They all used the baby snuggler thing (or something very similar to it). All babies have done just fine with it.

We had a Burley Solo for our son, and it was an absolute dream to ride with. Very light and maneuverable, could barely feel it was there. He rode like a prince in a reclining baby carrier (well strapped down to each corner) from a few months old, if that, probably much the same as the baby snuggler. When he outgrew that he had to sit in the built-in webbing seat that really doesn't give much support, they do need to be able to sit and hold up their heads for that.

Many funny memories of going grocery shopping with him in the carrier, and coming home with bags of food all around the poor kid and the lightest things like toilet paper and loaves of bread piled up in his disgruntled lap :D

Funny...my daugher and SIL have a dog....I'm sure the dog will be in the trailer with the child! So.....did you us just a regular baby carrier?

It was a car seat, if that's the right term, a small reclining one made for babies.

A lot of parents here use their maxi-cosi carseats in burley trailers.

Yes! That's the one. I remember when he outgrew that one the next one wouldn't fit in the trailer.
