Found this today. Kind of like an airbag instead of a helmet. I think I'll stick to my helmet though..

It looks like it might inflate if you hit a hard bump.

Well, I am content to see how they do for the next few years. I don't want to be a crash test dummy, that's for sure..

I might wear one in addition to my helmet. If they sent it to me free.

I guess now they are selling it. A story about this product surfaced in the media nearly two years ago. It was mentioned in this forum in 2010 (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=40636), with a link to the Huffington Post:

I wonder if the thing can get snagged if you fall in such a way that you slide on the ground. Also, I think that in the summer I would rather wear something on my head than a "scarf" around my neck. Is it breathable?

The techology will have to improve a lot before it is practical in hot weather. I can't imagine wearing that around my neck in the summer time! I watched one video, but haven't seen anything about a price. Has anyone seen that in any of the info?

In the other thread, Invisible Helmet, the referenced article listed $600.00

Did anyone notice this article link on (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/05/italy-car-crash-leaves-8-_n_792243.html)the same page? 8 cyclists were killed by a driver who plowed into them (in Italy). The driver had been smoking marijuana. It was a group of 10 cyclist, the two that lived were injured.

Just in case, the Huff Post article I linked is the from 2010 -- the Italy story is from that year, too. It was the article linked in the 2010 thread on the same product. The women who created that helmet are very media savvy!

PS: And I meant to post all of this in the other thread, "invisible helmet", but I am a klutz!

+1, apparently they were able to raise $10 million in capital.
