In the house, where is everything?

I'm in the house, in Burien. I forgot to have the movers set the handle bars straight on my 3-speed, so I still can't ride it. Plus I have no idea where my bike pump is, let alone helmet or shoes for my road bike. Will still need to take my road bike in it's box to a LBS to be unpacked and refitted. I suppose I'll have to find my shoes before then. Crud.

I just wish I could ride my 3 speed for now, and I can't even do that. :(

Internet is hit or miss until next week - have to go somewhere for WiFi. On monday I'm supposed to get things set up at the house.

I can be there Saturday with my boxes of tools, pump, spare helmet, and spare bike (I can bring it along just in case we can't set up the 3 speed. At least you'd have a bike to ride!)

My wonderful neighbor told me about Bicycles West - not by name but by location. But thank you for the address and phone. I have "found" the bikes, neither are rideable right now - road bike is still crated, 3-speed is in need of a little TLC. I also need to find my shoes for the road bike, and which "garage" box they're in is a crap shoot. :rolleyes:
I saw the other bike shop in Renton when I was going back and forth to the Vet, but never made it in there.

Next door neighbor came over bearing a gallon of milk, loaf of banana bread, and a small bag of groceries (soup, fruit, tea, hot chocolate mix, etc). THEN came back to help unpack the kitchen. I couldn't have gotten it done in one day without her help. When the day was done she invited me over for dinner for "something out of the crock pot over noodles" that her husband made. What, me turn down home cooking? I was planning on having one of her cans of soup. Yesterday she brought me a bouquet of flowers from Trader Joes, said she knew I had a vase or two!

Herald the Cat is hanging in there, still keeping food down, sometimes needs meds or sub-Q fluids for support, but doesn't seem to be in a lot of distress.

My coffee is almost done, guess I need to pack up here at the coffee shop, and head back to the house soon, have to unpack my office - "desk things" and prep change of address letters.

Trek and I are interchangeable, but I'm the one who is in town right now (she'll be gone next weekend). I'm glad your neighbor is acting in typical PNW fashion! I'm also glad that Herald is doing ok right now. Take some vitamin D and take a deep breath... the cyclists (and cool PNW neighbor chicks!) will take care of you!

I'm talking about a different location of Bicycles West - up the hill in Burien, not the one down by South Center......

I like Center Cycle to buy certain things, but I don't know how much I'd want them to do a fit... I bought my bike there - I don't think they even adjusted the saddle height for me and they tried to talk me into a 48, when I clearly need a 44..... Don't get me wrong, they gave me a great deal on my bike, but they were also a bit patronizing to me until I took 3rd in the race they sponsored.

Wow, what a special neighbor you have! When we moved into our apt. this summer, no one in the building did anything for us. Not that I expected them to, because I didn't. Consider yourself very lucky! :)

Thanks to KnottedYet, my 3-speed is in proper riding order. One box had the bike pump, and even had "bike pump" written on the side. Then I opened all the other "garage" boxes looking for my helmet and shoes. Big box marked "garage tools" had the weed-whacker and my large tent with other camping gear. Would have made more sense to label it "camping gear" but, oh, no, it was labeled "garage tools". I didn't intend to inventory the contents of the garage boxes, but as the thing you're looking for is in the last place you look (why keep looking after you find it?) - but the last, but scary big box, more "garage tools", was where my helmet and shoes were -and thankfully on top.

Still have "living room decor" boxes to explore ... but at least I have a bike in riding order. Many thanks to Knotted! :D

Glad to hear that Knotted was able to help and you are finally able to ride your bike :D Having moved less than a month ago, I feel for you. Have fun with the mystery boxes, and yayyy for Herald!

I remember the first time I woke up in the middle of the night in my new place and stumbled around in the dark and ran right into a wall - even had a bruise to show for it :eek: I am sure this hasn't happened to you in your lovely new house :)
