I have bad shoulders. I can not pull a bra, especially a tight bra, over my head. I have been using less supportive sport bras because of this, but darned it, I need more support.
Ideally, because of my shoulders, I need a bra that clasps (zips, whatever) in front. But, I'd take one that clasps in back if I have to.
the perfect bra:
lots of support (for crossfit, which includes jumping rope and running!)
wool
zip in front
D sized cup.

any ideas? I'll take any gamish of the perfect bra, the only thing it has to be is D sized, highly supportive, and not a pullover.

Have you tried Title 9? I don't think they go for wool, but beyond that they probably have the perfect bra for you. My sister swears by the Last Resort bra--she had never been able to run since hitting puberty because she was so well endowed and it was just too painful. She's the sister who just ran a marathon last month.

If that's too much coverage for you, they have a fabulous selection of sports bras in general and can probably set you up with something.

Not wool, but zips in front and comes in lots of sizes. From TE, so you know it's good! ;)

Also not wool, but I just got an A/B one and it's really comfy. More support than I need, really! Moving Comfort Grace (http://www.movingcomfort.com/product/344874/300271/_/Grace_CD) (zip front).

I like the Moving Comfort Cara bra. Plenty of support, even in the D, but it's not wool and it clasps in the back.

Moving Comfort Fiona and Maya are both decent high-support bras.

Excellent options! I knew someone would have some suggestions.

Can you step into a bra, thus not go over your head? It may not work depending on your hips, but it's much easier on the shoulders.

I guess I'm the minority D-cupper who has found that the "high impact" Moving Comfort bras are a joke (they are fine on the bike, but horrible for running or other truly high impact activities). I have yet to find a MC model that doesn't give me a blobby speed-bump across my chest. And they cost a small fortune for such mediocre support.

What I have found to be best for compression AND encapsulation is this bra:
Champion Shape Scoop-Back Full-Figure Underwire Sports Bra (http://www.championusa.com/Champion/Products/CH6843.aspx). No Cooper's ligaments pain. That's the sure sign for me that a bra does the job. My girls don't move a bit.

For great support (I wear G Cup so I really need support) I like the Freya Active Bras. They come with or without underwires. But they close in the back. I guess with your shoulder-problems you could just close them in the front and then turn them around as many women seem to do.

I also have a "Z-bra" which has a zip in the front but it isn't as supportive as the Freya. I also find the zipper itches and scratches a bit which can be annoying if I have to wear the bra for a longer period of time.

Somehow I find bras that accommodate each boob in an extra space like the Freya or for example the Shock Absorber Level4 D+ (and typically close in the back) provide more support than those "bra-top- style" ones.

I have one of these and I hope they have improved the zipper since I got mine. Two problems:
1) Chafing - the bottom of the zipper made chafe marks on long runs and after longer bouncy exercise
2) Security - at first the zipper was decent, but over time it seemed to want to stay in the "locked" position less and less. This meant unexpected unzipping. Unfortunate.

Otherwise, I did like it. I still have it around for yoga and other things, it's nice to not have to do the pullover routine.

I second the Last Resort Bra mentioned above. It is also called an Enell Bra and is available all over. It is not wool, but is made of a highly wicking synthetic material. It clasps in the front and is the most supportive bra I've found.

finding a good bra has been such a battle for so long - I just ordered 1 of just about every bra recomended. Gonna cost me a pretty penny, but darned it, I'm going to find one.
(and then it will be discontinued and I'll have to start all over :o )
