I need some ideas of what pants you guys like for all the riding in the rain I'll be doing for the next few months...since once it starts, it never seems to end around here! I like warmth and windproof, but it seems like everything I've seen has a wide ankle area, and get caught on the chain... I end up pulling my socks over the ones I already have like that! Then there's the fleece lined ones that get heavy once wet and like to slide down the spandex! So, what do you wear? Thanks!

I'm quite fond of these over regular pants. (with wool long underwear for when it's really cold) http://www.rainlegs.co.uk/ I have gray, but I think fluorescent screaming yellow would be awesome!
I have a pair of thin goretex rain pants designed for running and cycling, with velcro bands to snug in the lower leg. I use them if it's really pouring, but the goretex is flimsy and they still get clammy inside, so anything less than a full downpour I wear homemade rain shorts over tights. I cut them off so they hit right below the knee when my leg is bent. They keep my butt dry, and ventilate very well. The front of my lower leg still gets a bit wet but I can live with that.

i know! it's hard when it rains and unfortunately it rains a lot where I'm located :(
I've got a couple of really trousers from bikester (http://www.bikester.co.uk/)... might be worth a try!

I have a pair of water resistant tights for the light rain/misting/just cold days, which cut out most of the front drenching. They're a previous version of these, I think: http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodSU_40552F.html
For serious downpour, a cheap pair of waterproof shell pants for skiers, used with pants clips. They make a ton of noise (zip!zip!zip!zip!), but NOTHING gets through those.

I got the goretex cycling pants (http://www.terrybicycles.com/product/detail/5683/-/alp-x-rain-pants). Since they are made specifically for cycling they are designed not to get caught, and the crotch area is reinforced, so it isn't going to wear through there. I spent a fair bit on them but it was worth it and they are going on their 3rd winter. If they last 5 years I've more than had my money's worth.
