I use Prolink and like it just fine. But it's time for a change. I hear that the T-9 lubricant by Boeing is absolutely amazing, and REI does sell it. What is nice is that it is a dry lube and less messy.
What do you like?

Rock n Roll Gold. It wins hands down, easy to use and great protection. We also like the simplicity of it being an all purpose for our road and mountain bikes. With mountain bikes we have to lube every ride and the clean and lube ability is very nice. Our LBS uses the Rock n Roll Blue version on bikes.

ok, so for those of you using R&R Gold, is there a trick to it? The guy at the bike shop recommended it last time I was in... It doesn't drip out the end very well. I am constantly having to flip it over and 'puff' some air out of it to clear the tiny hole to get a few more drops out of it. If I don't do that, I end up squeezing it too hard to get the lube to come out, and way too much comes out at once. So annoying I quit using it and set it off to the side. do you just trim the tip to make the hole larger?

I use Prolink, mainly because it's widely available at most bike shops in my area. My cycling buddy swears by TriFlow.
I use T-9. I think tri-flo is too sticky - gets dirty really fast.
I've never tried it, but Purple Extreme has very loyal followers

Pedro's Go! for dry conditions, Pedro's Chainj for wet and muddy.
They're both soy based and non-toxic.

I use T9 mostly, although I do use Prolink and R&R Gold too. Which ever the LBS has when I need it is what I use. I was disappointed with Pedros, it got that motoroil on the chain look real quick no matter how much I wiped it after applying. I do apply White Lightning after wet cleaning as it always flushes out more dirt, then lube with one of the above.
I read an article somewhere where a university did a study on chainlubing. Not on any particular brand, but on whether a chain lasts longer/has less friction with lube. They found no difference. They did find that the lube tended to displace dirt from inside the pins. Of course, it also helped prevent rust. But it did not make the chain run with less friction to have lube. So what I look for is lube that does not attract dirt, and a chain that does not rust, and I am good to go.

In the shop, we use Pedros "Go" most of the time... very enviromental friendly etc.. Last winter I started using Squirt on my mtn bike, and I was amazed at how well it kept the chain/cassette clean!! A few of my customers have now converted over as well:D

Maybe you got a defective bottle or something. I've never had trouble dripping the lube out and I only have to shake it once or twice the whole time I am doing the chain.

Eden,
I have to agree with you about Tri-Flo, seems to be very sticky and attracts dirt easily. I'll pick up a bottle of T-9 next time I'm at REI and give it a try.

Mostly Prolink, although I have an assortment of Pedro's lubes that get used as well. I'm thinking about making my own with synthetic motor oil and odorless mineral spirits once I have a few empty bottles accumulated.

Some folks are using this, believe it or not, and having really good luck. The trick is you HAVE to really clean all of the petrolium out of your chain, so get Park Tool Citrus Brite.

I haven't had any real issues with RNR coming out. I give it a vigorous shake before application. Sorry, hopefully it is just a defective bottle.

Boeshield T9.
Works great for the damp and rainy conditions I generally ride in.

Just tried the T-9 today on a 40 mile ride and like how quiet it is. Nice, clean, non-greasy lube. Now the test for longevity...

pumpkin,
Use a pin or paper clip to widen the opening. You can also cut the tip back, but then the opening will probably be too big...
Rock and roll.

Good to hear from several people that this isn't normal... and thanks Sarah for the tip. I'll try that next time.
