sure didn't sound "fun" to me! My brother rode the Knoxville Double Century on Saturday... this is his second (next Sat will be his third  which will allow him to be a CA Triple Crown Winner!)

this ride is 203 miles with 12,200ft climbing... he said there were only 280 registered riders and he rode about 170 miles of it solo... took him 17 hours total with 14 hours 41 minutes ride time...

he said there was a climb where his heart rate was up to 184... it's never been over 180 before...

AND he got a saddle sore... the dope has not replaced his shorts lately... he was 320lbs when he bought them and is now 235... can we all say TOO BIG YOU DOLT??? :D He is gonna by some that fit to alleviate the chafing...

I actually had people trying to convince ME to ride this... bwahahahhahahaa! Yeah, I don't THINK so... this sooooo doesn't sound "fun" :D

however, he said the support was the best he's EVER had on a ride... really well done... Veronica was at sag 2 and he saw her but she had a big line and his friends wanted to go so he didn't get to say hi there... at the end someone asked if he was Jim and said they knew me... Veronica was that you??? He thought it was a female named Valerie... but after 17 hours on the bike wasn't real sure WHO it was  :)

I didn't ride this weekend ;) :D

I guess it could be considered fun in a "Woohoo! I still have two arms, two legs, two eyes and a heartbeat!" kind of way. Bigs ups to your bro for the effort! :)

Not me - probably Kim. Glad he had a good ride. That's fantastic!

A guy at dinner was rummaging through an ice chest looking for diet sodas and I told him I didn't think he really needed a diet drink after riding 200 miles ;). Then he said he'd lost 140 pounds since July (?), and I asked him if he was from Camarillo and had a sister named bikerchick. So, that was me. :D

Glad he had a good ride, he looked good, both in terms of weight loss and cognitive function :) (many riders at the end seem to barely know their own names any more).

I was really surprised how many women did the ride. I always think guys who do 200 miles are crazy, but I think the women are awesome, so I've got a slight double standard going... Two women finished among the first 10 finishers too!

The last few riders came in a little after midnight, one of those complaining about a seam in his Pearl Izumis. Imagine riding with crotch problems for 200 miles! Some people talked about having started as early as 4:30 am, and someone even mentioned starting at 1:30 (!!). I'd guess the majority of people finished between 7:30 - 10pm, meaning they'd been on the bike a minimum of 12 hours. I just can't fathom being on the bike for that long.

Bikerchick your brother should be proud, and congrats on his Triple Crown.

Kim... thanks for saying hi to him! He said when he got to sag 2 he asked who Veronica was and was going to say but she had a looooong line of people in front of her... :D

when he said another woman asked if he was Jim from Camarillo he was surprised... LOL... but he couldn't remember your name... he said it wasn't Veronica cause he'd seen her... but then said maybe it was... he was more or less functional at that point... (less than more... :D )

he was really, really complimentary and impressed with the support! He said that he was soooo excited at about 170 miles in to have a hot dog... his first hot dog in over a year. Said it tasted downright gourmet!!! :p

Kim... thanks for saying hi to him! He said when he got to sag 2 he asked who Veronica was and was going to say but she had a looooong line of people in front of her... :D I know Veronica is popular with the guys and all that, but that long line was for riders to check in, so your brother shoulda been in it :D.

I thought dinner was heading towards disaster (like, the food's here, where are the plates?), but I'll pass his compliments on to the Quacks, who go to tremendous lengths to put on a good ride.
