Hi there! I've been lurking a while -- picking up tips. Glad there is a place for women cyclists -- and glad others who learn to ride as adults get addicted too! Just learned to ride this summer -- at 40. Now addicted -- ride everywhere, all hours (yes, I have lights). Hubby is so awesome and supportive.(and willingly installs every cute accessory I have to have on the bike!)

Unfortunately had a bad accident about 2 weeks ago. Bruised knee bones, and injured a disc. I feel better, but want to know if anyone else has experience/recommendation on biking while recuperating esp with the disc injury. I have been used to biking at least 7 - 12 miles, 5-6 days a week.

Thanks all!

So sorry about your accident, that sounds painful. I hope you recover soon.

I can't advise really but just wanted to post and say Welcome.

Welcome to TE, and to the joyful addiction...errrrr...activity of cycling

I've never had a back injury, but we have several members here who have come back, or in the process of coming back, from having a broken back. I am sure that at least one of these women will post here, and I am sorry to hear of your injury.

Hi and Welcome! Can't really address injuries except to say follow Dr. orders. On a brighter note, I have a golfing buddy who was painting her home and had a ladder on scaffolding (yikes!) and fell off that and broke her back in the summer, by late winter we met up in Florida for a round of golf. People do come back from injuries to enjoy their chosen sports again.

Sorry to hear of your accident, but glad you are here to talk about it.

for the warm welcome and based on what you guys said, I hunted a bit and found some tips and encouragement on some of the other threads! I did a couple of teeny rides this weekend, that went well. I now think I know my limit for the time being and its great just to hop back in the saddle.

I had a back injury last year. NOT fun. I had to let myself heal before really doing anything :(..... It really depends on the injury and what your physician has advised. You will eventually be back on the bike!!!!
