In our continuing attempts to drive as little as possible, we did a post office ride today to mail several packages (stuff I'd sold on ebay). It was a perfect day for it! Not a whole lot of photos this time, but just thought some of you might like to see the blog entry (http://emilys7.blogspot.com/2010/09/post-office-ride.html).
It rained yesterday and is supposed to rain for the next few days, so it was great to have a lovely day like this right in the middle, and the day I just happened to be working from home so could get away with it! :D

fun fun! what do you sell?
I used to have a mail order business - sewed/sold cloth diaper/clothing and made trips to the PO all the time!!!

you can set up a carrrier pickup, for free, at the usps website. Personally I can't handle the standing in line part, and carrier pick up has really freed me up.

Just odds and ends, stuff we no longer need, from previous hobbies and stuff we no longer use. Lately, boat gear and camping gear. Have sold quite a bit of bike gear over the past few years too, as we change equipment and such. It's just a sideline, not anything I do full-time. We've been on a BIG de-cluttering and downsizing kick over the past year. Sold, donated, and gave away enough stuff to move from a 4BR house to an apartment, and are still going strong!
As for waiting in line, I don't. I pay for and print all my USPS labels at home so just leave the packages at one end of the counter and go. I ship on such random days (depending on when I sell something and when I get paid) that I haven't wanted to mess with carrier pickup. We lived only 3 miles from the PO in our previous (rural) location too, so even when I had to go to my real job, DH could take packages for me (usually by bike).
