View Full Version : Charity ride bike tech crew
I helped out at a charity ride today. It was the Harbor to the Bay ride, a 125 mile ride from Boston to Provincetown to benefit several AIDS organizations. One of our TEers was on the ride, so maybe she'll give us some details. I was only at one pit stop from 8-11 am to handle bike first aid. Only had 4 customers, one flat repair, one spoke replacement, and 2 people who needed air.

I did the H2B and will post a longer ride report soon. Suffice it to say, that this year was glorious weather and it made all the difference. (Last year, it was 125 miles in the pouring rain.) This is my fourth year of doing this AIDS benefit ride. All of the money goes directly to the charities because most everything else is donated. I am on the committee and help with new rider issues.
Thank you Deb for helping and teching! Although you didn't have many customers, your presence is SO important. (I do think many of the major mechanical issues get worked out at the first two pits. People start off and realized there is something wrong and attend to it. That being said, you never know what is going to happen, and it makes me feel MUCH better knowing that there are bike tech at all the pits.)
If anyone is interested in the ride the website is:

And if anyone is inspired to donate my page is:

Again, thanks for helping out Deb. The ride is September 17, 2011 next year and I would welcome any fellow TEers to join me. It is a great ride in so many ways and everyone is so grateful for our efforts.
