About 6 weeks ago I bought a super exercise bike on eBay for the bargain price of £9.36 ($14.55)

It did it's job but now I am allowed back on my bike for short distances, I thought time to sell it.

I did not expect much for it and was rather hoping somebody would win the bidding who needed it for health reasons, so much so I started the bidding off on £0.99 ($1.54).

Imagine my surprise when it went for £40 ($62.17)!!!

Has anybody else had a really good result eBay, whether buying or selling?

good for you!
I usually get outbid on ebay because of bidding wars like you described.
I did however, have great luck with exercise equipment, buying on craigslist for a low price and selling it two years later at double the price.

Good for you!

I once bought a brand new pair of Merrell tall boots. It was in July, and I got them for $75. After I decided they were a bit too big for me and I wouldn't wear them, I listed in late November for xmas, and amazingly they went for $150!!

These days I don't bother with selling because it's just not worth the hassle.

Good job, Clock!

Not ebay...but I did sell my Toyota Prius on Craigslist for the same amount I'd paid for it 9 months earlier (I bought it used from a dealer).

I also bought a Mixte bike for $50 and then sold it three months later for $150. I added a basket and new tires, but I think I still ended up about $25 ahead in the deal (also Craigslist).

Years ago my hubby's uncle-in-law sold us his late father's large format camera body, lens, case, and a nice Bogen tripod (which wasn't really beefy enough for that camera, but perfect for digital SLR or med. format). We paid $250 for the entire set-up.

Maybe a year or two later I sold the camera body, lens, and case for $800 on eBay, since it wasn't practical to keep that set-up without my own darkroom. that $800 paid for about half of my first DSLR.

That's excellent Clock, and brilliant that you are riding again :D

My best ebay sale was a pair of Toast polo boots that I bought on clearance for about 24 pounds. They were always a bit big, so I put them on ebay for 99p and they went for 120pounds! How happy was I?
