I bought a 2010 Ruby Expert 48cm (Triple) in April as an upgrade from my Orbea Onix Dama. I thought that the combination of its great Ultegra parts and the geometry would be a good fit.

So I am about to say something outrageous: I don't really love her. I certainly do not love her as much as my Orbea. I have tried to make things work -- taking her out on long rides (which were very comfortable, I will admit) on a variety of terrains, etc. But, to be honest, when I look at which bike I want to take out on a ride, I want to take the Orbea out. I feel obligated to ride the Ruby because it was so expensive.

With a heavy heart, I want to see whether any of the fine folks on the boards might be interested in providing her a new and loving home. I am in the SF Bay Area, but willing to ship. I want to strike a fair price (she is new with about 200 or so miles on her). MSRP was $3300.

If you might be interested, PM me.

Oh I feel your pain! That is exactly what happened to my Merlin Cyrene. It was a beautiful bike, a great ride, but when I was out on it I found myself wishing I was on my Surly Cross Check which is just a little bit better fit. I'm not even sure why it was a better fit. I felt obligated just like you, (I bought mine used) so I sold it. The new owner is very happy with it. I think it's more understandable to love an Orbea rather than a Surly. but darned if I know why I love the darn bike so much.

I learned a lot with that purchase, and I didn't lose a dime as I sold it for what I paid for it. I hope it works out for you too.

Good luck!

Oh dear. If I could afford anything resembling a fair price, I would be sorely tempted. Good luck! It's a lovely bike.
