We just got home from Red River, NM. My husband and I did the Enchanted Circle Century. It is a tough one for me, not so much for my husband.
It took us 8hr 45 min. Which is actually the fastest of the 3 times we have done it.
Elevation change is the key feature of the tour, as it starts and ends at 8,750 feet in Red River, and goes as low at 6,800 feet in Arroyo Hondo. Bobcat Pass and Palo Flechado Pass are the challenging climbs on the tour, with Bobcat rising to 9,820 feet on the last grueling climb of the event.
The weather was beautiful!

It is very pretty.
We saw one cyclist had crashed on a big downhill, if anyone out there knows anything about this please let me know. I am praying he/she is ok!

Not just any ol' century- The Enchanted Circle. WOW! Congrats!! :D I've heard that is a tough century (well, for flat-landers like me, anyway). Great job!
Did you take any pictures?

I am a flatlander also! So, yes it is tough for me too. We did take pictures, but I'm not sure I know how to put them on here:) I'll work on that.

Congratulations! That sounds like a lot of elevation change to me. I'll bet it's beautiful, too.

Congrats!

However "survive" isn't the word I want to hear as I approach my century in October ;-)

TrekTheKaty- I'm sure you will do fine. You are probably younger than me and have probably trained more.
Where is your century?

Congrats! I have done just the circle (not the out and back for the century), it is brutal! I don't do well with altitude but still that is a tough one.

Did the cyclist crash going down Paso Flecha? When we were there this summer they said they have a lot of crashes on those switchbacks. The bike shop owner tried to blame Texans for not being able to descend but I had no problem with that descent so I think he was just biased.
