I signed up for a local skills class, I have heard positive things and am hoping it will push me over the hump of being comfortable but not confident. I am taking the beginner because I can hop a curb but running into it but not pull the wheel up, which translates to missing some obstacles on the trail. Anyone have experience taking these, how'd it go? Today we spent time learning drills like slow biking (to improve poise and balance) and started learning a wheelie to pop over things. I am very excited and nervous I expect too much out of it! :o

well, the first one I ever took changed my mtbing 100% for the better. I've now been back 5 time and am on my way to a coaching certification.
Who's teaching, Gene Hamilton or Dirt Series by any chance?

That's wonderful Aggie. I've always wanted to take a skills MTB class, but the classes offered around where I live are not close by, or don't fit into my schedule. Let us know if you think it's worth doing. I would definitely think that hands on training & practice with an instructor would make a big difference vs reading about and/or watching skills on a website.

It is a local mountain biker who teaches them. I am not completely sure of her background, I know she used to race and she has a training/coaching business. They are pretty cost efficient, only $10/week for an hour class so I figured with a few positive recommendations it was worth a shot. I just hope I don't have unrealistic ideas about how much it will help. :)

I wanna have training as well rather than just reading about it. Hopefully, I could take MTB class also.
