I had an injection done on my achilles tendon done for tendonitis in mid august. Its a realatively new procedure so I am not quite sure what to expect. I know what the doctors tell me but I would love to hear from anyone that has had this procedure.

I've had a few patients do it.

There are a few studies that say it is useless, there are a few that say it has a positive effect.

The idea is that you enrich the environment of the injury so it heals better. It should then follow the standard healing "schedule". 3-5 days of inflammation, 21 days of collagen deposition ending in full repair, 3-6 months of remodelling of the repair.

You should pretty much feel marvellous after about 3 weeks. But you must continue loading the tissue (your PT exercises) for 3-6 months so your body fine tunes the repair to the demands you place on it.

They use it on the race horses here where I work and are convinced that it helps. That does not always translate into people. Just my 2 cents.

I saw some images from an achilles tendon where this was done - presented by "my" Sports doc at a workshop. It looked quite convincing.

Doesn't always translate into people, but like the Adequan injections, it's a pretty good refutation of any placebo effect.
