DH is thinking of buying a ProMotion brand wetsuit and wanted me to ask if anyone has one or knows anything about them. They come in a sleeveless model that you can wear a sleeved jacket under if you need sleeves. It seems to be a clever idea and they are made in the USA. Any pros? cons?

I currently own a sleeveless but haven't used it much yet. I think they have about 3 quality levels. My first wetsuit was a used ProMotion, bottom of the line; it was rather thick and seemed very prone to fingertip and nail damage. My sleeveless is middle level. I'd recommend staying away from the entry-level suit.

Customer service was very good and help a lot in getting me into the right size (needed one exchange).

My sleeveless suit is a Promotion (6 years old now). I like the suit a lot. It's not as supple as a lot of the expensive suits, but I like it better than my Xterra suit. It's stood up to a lot of lake swimming in the past 6 years without any tears. I like it's buoyancy, too.

I have the sleeved jacket as well. I use it for training, but I wouldn't use it in a race. It doesn't come off that easily.

Their customer service is top notch. You can call them and talk to them about sizing without getting the hard sell.

I agree with going with their mid level suit. It's not that much more expensive and it seems to be quite a bit better than the entry level.
