A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle.
Go Fish!
Ding ding ding ding!! We have a winner. :p And 5 points to Pam who I'm sure knew but was just being demure.
Now for extra credit: who said it?

I thought Gloria Steinem said it?
That bike is amazing btw. It would so fit in at the solstice parade here!
I so would have sat there and waited for the owner to come so I could watch them ride that thing.

Shortly after her divorce, my neighbor bought and proudly wore a t-shirt with that quote and darling pic of a big fish on a little bike, and the fish was winking. ;)

They might not had said it first, but I'm pretty sure that the band U2 used that line in one of their songs.

Once I was on a group ride and noticed a man going my pace, so asked if he wanted to ride together, figuring we could work together and go faster, and also remarked that I thought it was safer. By safer, I meant its easier for cars to spot 2 cyclists than 1 alone, but his response was, yeh, I was surprised that your husband LETS you ride alone.......... I proceeded to drop him on the next climb.

Go, girl!
A fish with a bicycle is ....
... a multitalented creature. Like most women ;)

When I was 9 months pregnant with my first son, one of the big, tough looking football playing seniors in my remedial English class asked me how my "husband could allow me to drive all the way to school, on the freeway, alone, because I could have the baby at any minute."
I reminded him the baby would not just plop out on the front seat of my car.

I've used that quote a lot, but I thought it was "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle".
Edit: because I googled it.
"A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle"

No, not Gloria Steinem, although she is often credited with the phrase.
Not U2 either (Throwin' Your Arms Around the World off Achtung Baby). Long time after.

It's much older than that, but I know the song.
