I'm in a complete conundrum - I hate, loath, and detest the whole concept of pushing noise into my ear canal so I can't hear what's going on around me. but, I also don't want to force my music on others. This seems like it would do the latter?
I wish I could find a good comfortable pair of "sports" headphones that are supra-aural so they don't plug up my ear canal, but with a reasonable volume, won't bother others, either.

If you're talking about riding by yourself then I don't see the problem. Someone who passes you, or whom you pass, will hear a couple of notes. Same thing as happens when a car goes by you.

If you're with a small group, it's not really different from sharing a car or living room with them - there's a certain amount of mutual agreement in the volume and song selection.

Definitely they're annoying on a group ride ... but I guess I don't really understand why anyone would join a group ride if they just want to ride in their own little world. People do, though. :confused:

it seems to me that you can't really hear it until you put the helmet on. The people in the video put the helmet on and then had that shocked face like: oh I can hear it now. I'm confused.

I wouldn't mind paying that much for it- since it is a helmet and all. I paid almost $100 for my last helmet anyway. It doesn't seem great for ventilation, though. Maybe a fall/winter/spring helmet.

Have you ever tried any of the Sennheiser sport models? The newer ones are orange, the older ones were poison green. The suckers are bomb-proof (I can submerge them in hot, soapy water to clean the sweat and gunk from them), but one can still hear ambient noise...at least this is the case for using them while running. I haven't worn them on the bike, ever. Most models are in the $40-50 range.

I don't think it's a helmet...it attaches to a helmet. So you'd still have to supply your own helmet of choice.

oh- well then I was really not paying attention. I thought it was built into the helmet. :rolleyes:

Then NO- I would not pay that price for something at attaches to the helmet.
