Don't get me wrong, I love them. they are comfy and cool and cute.
BUT
They are see-through under the skirt part! and if you are apple shaped, like me, the skirt part can work it's way up over your hips, and you might find yourself mooning traffic.
I went on a 25 mile ride yesterday and about 15 miles in I noticed that things were feelin' pretty breezy back there. A car started honking at me for no darned good reason. I gave them the look of death and a "what the heck is your problem" jesture before escaping onto a nearby trail head where I noticed that my skirt and wiggled up. the trip home was punctuated with constant tuggs on the skirt to make sure it was in place. When I got home I looked at my behind in the mirror and was horrified to see that EVERYTHING is perfectly visible when my flirty little skirt gets frisky in the breeze! Yikes!

Yes, Schnitzle, Thank goodness I'll probably never see any of the people I flashed again. I hope. I'm guessing the folks at Mt Borah figured that the little skirt kept everything adequately covered. Hubby wanted me to wear the knicker skort on the RSVP ride we just did--promised he would ride behind and do a continual skirt check. I was seriously tempted. I mean, they REALLY are comfy and flattering, but I just knew that this is the sort of ride where I really reach a "just don't give a shmitt about anything" point and wouldn't have the energy to expend on pulling my skirt down, and, well, just about anything could happen after that...
as it is, I nearly had a knock-down-drag-out confrontation with some obnoxious person about the subject of ear bud wearing, and who knows what would have happened if I'd been wearing my invisible pants.

I would have missed the "mesh knicker" if I was looking at this product. To have a mesh knicker and that short of a skirt is rather rediculous. Why isn't the knicker just the same fabric (and black) as the rest of the cycling shorts?

Lauraelmore, instead, why not buy regular cycling shorts, then get a skirt to go over the top?

I actually have the skirt (thanks Zen), and with my regular cycling shorts, I'm not worried about "mooning" anyone, and feel somewhat dressed when I stop in a store on the way home.

You could just wear some compression shorts or some such beneath the mesh knickers. Kind of expensive to just toss.

Moving Comfort has several pair on TE.

Oh, I didn't see the third review. I'm not going to toss them either. I'm tempted to sew a big heart across the "crack" area, just to be cheeky (literally). Or, I suppose the compression shorts would work:rolleyes:

of women's sports apparel. The concept is so bizarre to me. I used to play a lot of golf and most of the women golfers at my clubs lived in those bizarre things. I couldn't understand how in 100 degree heat they would want to be in a pair of shorts wrapped with a skirt--these women insisted these things were cool and comfortable. Yet so many tugged, yanked, twisted and danced the get my undies unstuck from my booty shimmy by the 3rd tee because every time they swung the club, the stupid skorts would slip and slide around them.

To my recollection, Tiger Woods hasn't worn a skirt to win any of his majors. Kobe Bryant doesn't wear skirts on the basketball court. So why the heck are manufacturers mocking women athletes by producing skirts for us to play? I think most women just want functional, practical, quality sports apparel.

No, but last time I was aware of it, LPGA golfers got to wear shorts on the course, unlike the men who are forced to sweat it out in their pressed slacks. :rolleyes:

I don't see it as mockery at all. In fact, I find it empowering to have more choices in what I wear. Let's face it, even if Lance Armstrong wanted to wear a skirt for a TdF stage, society wouldn't let him live that down (not saying that's right, that's just how it is). I embrace the fact that I can wear shorts when I want or a skirt when I want. No, I probably wouldn't wear a skirt in a race, but a huge proportion of athletes are not necessarily competitive.

I wore a cycling skirt on a recent charity ride, and I think it was plenty functional, practical, and I felt "fun" wearing it. Sure, most of the time I wear shorts, but sometimes I'm glad to have "cute" athletic apparel, too, and that's not mutually exclusive with functional/practical/high quality in my experience.

Manufacturers wouldn't be making them if they didn't sell. I believe the bottom line for manufacturers is profit. I wear skorts for tennis, biking, etc. Always have, always will. I love them. Also skirts over biking shorts, and apparently the OP does too. I find them very practical. You go from bike to anywhere else without the biking shorts look. Not everyone has the same taste. It's okay with me if you don't want to wear skirts, but I'm not sure why you care whether or not I do.

I love the way cycling skorts look, but the ones I have don't have the quality level in the shorts that I am used to, even though they are Terry skorts. Still, I wear them all the time when I am doing errands/going to appointments on my bike. They are cute, casual, and good for when I am going in and out of stores and professional buildings.
I have 2 running skorts that I love. I wear them almost exclusively when walking/running or doing local hikes. I wore it when I did my one and only race, and I didn't really care what others thought. It was 90 degrees and humid out and I was very comfortable, with no shorts creeping up.
