DH and I have been training for IM Canada since last fall, things were going well until he unfortunately had a heart attack at the end of March :eek:(I think he was looking for an excuse to drop out since I was doing better than him:D), so with his year over (btw he is doing well and actually thinking about doing the swim part of the race), he generously lent me his tri bike in place of my road bike. Have to admit that I've settled in quite nicely and am looking forward to the race on the new ride :D
Anyway DH went home to visit old high-school friends last weekend and a few days after he gets back says "did I tell you I bought you a new bike?"
No you didn't I said and what are you talking about?
So four weeks out of my big race I find out I'll be riding a new bike:eek:. I'm a little worried I won't have enough time to get settled in on it but DH thinks it shouldn't be much of a change from the bike I'm riding.
I really think the whole reason he did this was so he could have his bike back.. i just found out that in addition to the swim he figures he should do at least half the ride.
BTW I still can't believe he did it. I waiting until it actually arrives before I do a happy dance (ok I did do one little one while he wasn't looking).
I've seen pictures of it, I hope I can ride as fast as it looks.

What a sexy bike!!! But I would have mixed feelings if DH had done that to me. While the bike is super cool, I think I would be upset that he did it without asking. I would want to pick out my own bike. That's just me though.

if you are uncomfortable, ask him if you can use his for the race.

I think he knew I would not have spent the money on a bike right now so he took matters into his own hands...the other thing is he said he couldn't pass up what a smoking deal this bike was- so that is why he bought it without my input- though he knows me pretty well- even with my input we likely would have picked the same thing:)
Biciclista- I know if it is here late or I can't get used to it he would let me use his- I am hoping it gets here asap so I can have a few long rides (+5hrs) on it along with all the shorter stuff- it is just getting pretty close in terms of timing.Exciting though!

It's not too late - but you should make sure to work on the fit/have it fitted as soon as you can, and do a long ride in it so you know how it's different than the bike you've been riding. Small things add up over 112 miles. :) Exciting!

I think that's very sweet. I would love it if my DH just went out and bought me a smokin' hot new tri bike. On the other hand, if it were ugly colors I would probably hate him for it. ;)
Let us know when it arrives and how you like it.
It's not quite the same, but my new tri bike arrived only 2 weeks before a HIM 3 years ago. Luckily the fit was done well and I had no issues. Now had that been 2 weeks before my IM, I would NOT have ridden it. I think 4 weeks is fine, if it's fit well to you.
Yippee!!!!:D

The Transition is a nice bike! What are you riding now?

The transition looks great! - right now I am riding Dh's cervelo dual- not sure they even make that model anymore- we had to make some fit changes so it works for me- ie different stem/pedals and of course saddle- I also changed out the rear cassette as IMC has a couple major climbs so I got a 12-28 rather than the 11-25. He said they shipped the bike today but it is a short week here ( holiday on Monday) so not sure it will arrive in time for me to ride it this weekend-and I have one last long ride!! eek!! Will have to wait and see- it not like I am going to win a prize either way- it is not life or death by any stretch- so I will just take it as it comes- I don't want to worry needlessly at this point:)

Holy crap, that Specialized is sexy! I think you should give it a tri...pardon the pun, if you've been riding a tri bike, a good fit and you'll be rockin that thing! It's all about speed baby, I'm SO jealous! Measure out your current ride and make it match, boom!
