Well, I've shopped for a steel frame commuter/trail/errand/winter bike for over a year and I finally bought one! I found a shop 6 hours from me that had several bikes in my size that I could try so I made the trip, rode several and decided on the Salsa Vaya. I splurged and got fully fenders, rack, Brooks saddle and bar tape too then had buyer's remorse the next morning about spending so much on the accessories. They could've waited but everything was on sale and I just got caught up in the moment:D I'm glad I did it though. I haven't ridden it much but plan to take it to work in the morning. Can't wait!

Thanks everyone. I rode her to work today and she's a fun ride! I was dodging rain clouds on the way home though and was worried I was going to get that Brooks saddle wet the first trip out:eek: I made it home without a raindrop though.

My three Brooks saddles have been rained on many times. No problem. Usually your butt covers the top of the saddle and protects it as you ride, just make sure you also proof-hide the underside (rough side) of the leather.
One of mine even survived training for and racing in a tri several times. My soggy wet post-transition butt did not destroy it. ;)
Your bike still makes me swoon... Lovely, lovely!
