I just got back from my first ride since getting hit by a car last Friday. I guess I just needed to get it out of the way. The doctor told me to stay off the bike for at least 2 weeks, but that just ain't happenin'. Even though I'm still sore from the crash, it felt good to go for a ride, even if it was just around my neighborhood. Maybe tomorrow, I'll ride a little longer.

Good for you for getting back out there! I think starting small and building up is wise.

I injured myself recently (due to my own stupidity) and have only managed a short two minute journey to the shops.

the first time I was off the bike for an accident it took me 8 weeks to really heal and a year before I could ride down the road I had fallen on.

The second time, also with broken ribs, but no collapsed lung, it took 6 weeks.

The last time, again with broken ribs but on the other side, it took me 4 weeks and a lot of determination, but the memory of how hard the other times were was a great motivating factor.

Be well and go slowly but not so much as to hold yourself back.

Good for you getting back on the bike. After my big crash (helicopter flight to trauma center), I was off for a month, mostly because I couldn't remember things. Luckily that was temporary. Well mostly. My first day back I was tapped by a car while in a crosswalk with the walk signal (she ran the light gabbing on the phone)! I couldn't believe it. She got chewed out by an old lady crossing the street the opposite way. I thanked my stars and soldiered on.
