For Christmas or his birthday you should buy him some tiny shorts with a chamois. I know Performance carries one and PI makes little shorts, too. Then he can have his own butt pad when he rides. :D

REI sells kids bike shorts with the butt pads; I got my six-year-old boy some. He was skeptical at first, but after a 14-mile ride one day he was VERY grateful. Yay butt pads! :D
