My husband John and I did a race of 60 miles that ended with an 8 mile climb with grades of over 15%...he finished 10th - and came back down to find me....this is what pain looks like when you have not been racing for a year. So when you feel tired after work and don't want to get out on your bike - JUST DO IT!!!

John is in the front looking at me like - would you hurry up???
It was a gran fodo style ride that was just awesome.
We are fortunate to have so many organized rides and races here in the mountains of NC and SC.

You look like you are having fun to me too! That's brutal but sounds like a lot of fun. Congratulations for even finishing!

maintain a blank face when climbing. Makes a bit of difference. Trust me. :D :D

Wow...congrats on the big finish! Loved the part about your husband coming back for you. Sounds like a special guy. I am blessed with one like that too.

Where was the ride? I am a wimp but my husband is always looking for a hill to climb. We live in the Augusta, GA area and love to spend time in the NC mountains.

this was climbing up Ceasar's Head. We have so much great riding around here - let me know if you are coming up and I can suggest some routes for you - as you can probably tell by looking at John - he is a pure climber....I am a pure time trialist - we climb together like a feather and a rock. On this ride we were about 4 miles into the climb when he says to me "oh...hey I have another gear!!".....grr - the two guys and myself almost killed him!

We also have some awesome organized rides - my all time favorite is coming up the second weekend in July - the Hot Doggett - amazing rural roads and scenery.
