Ok gals, looking for input.

Closetmaid vs. Rubbermaid?

For two of our 4 closets we have to do, a kit may not be the best choice as it's way overkill for what we need in those two closets. The kits seem to have way too much bar and not enough shelves for what I want.

I am liking that Rubbermaid seems to offer a higher density ( closer spacing) shelf than CM does, but I also am not finding much info on non-kit configurations.

I'm wanting the track/bracket system, and not the one that CM has that has a little foot support on the floor.

Discuss?

thanks!!

Note NO IKEA around here, and based on web stuff I have read I am not having this stuff drop shipped, too many issues with both companies with trying to get missing parts.

The Lowes near me has a wide variety of shelving and other components. I think it's Rubbermaid. You can build your own based on your needs. They have kits, too, but I like the customization of the different components.

Just like California Closets - less than 1/2 the cost. You do have to install it yourself, but no tax & free shipping.

Honesty I just don't get California Closets and others like them...... closet space is at a premium in my house. I have no need or desire to put what amounts to bookshelves and dressers into my closet. Personally I want to walk into the closet (we built a smallish walk in closet up stairs) be able to see everything and have flexibility to change- ie shelves and wire baskets or open/clear bins. We are looking at an IKEA system because it is very flexible and has ceiling/floor mount poles. Our closet space is in a 1/2 attic so the ceiling slopes and it backs onto a pocket door so we cannot put any fasteners into one of the walls.

After extensive research:

Rubbermaid has bought Closet maid.
Rubbermaid is fully interchangeable with Real Organized, another system.

Looks like easy closet is 4x the cost of what I can do with the above.

Best of all I can get everything I need 5 miles down the road. Done.

I like the Ikea ones too.

Not that I would ever actually organize a closet.
