hi all,

i'm going to do my first tri in a couple of weeks and when i did a trial run about a month ago, i got really bad chafing on my neck from the wetsuit. so, someone told me to get the body glide and put it on.

so the question is where and how much? all over the arms and legs or just the lower half? and also on my neck, too, i presume! :)

thanks,
frances

Hi Frances,

Will the water temp be low enough for you to wear a wetsuit?

I've seen people put a ton of vaseline or bodyglide around their neck. But what I see most people doing is spraying themselves with Pam to make the wetsuit easier to get on and off.

How about the undersides of your arms, do you chafe there?

hi nanci,

yes, it IS definitely cold enough for a wetsuit. ;)

i live in Northern California. it's never very warm up here in the ocean. bummer... i used to live in Florida and that was great!

i got really bad chafing on the neck from the side-breathing. and, i had a hard time getting the suit on/off without the body glide. so i'm going to try with it on this weekend on a practice swim.

someone mentioned Pam but, i think the body glide is actually better for your wetsuit and (i'm guessing) the environment as well.
