Anyone wear mens shorts? The team I've joined only orders women's gear once a year (in the spring), so I'm SOL till then for a uniform unless I go with a men's small.

Will it chafe me? I looked at a pair of hubby's shorts, and the chamios doesn't look THAT different...the waist hip ratio is different, but I fiigure since it's lycra it might not matter?

I only have mens shorts, never worn women's--so I can't give you a comparison. However, I don't have any complaints. The mens shorts have worked really well for me. And, I can order them in a size smaller than I what I would have to in women's--I can tell everyone I wear a medium instead of large.

The shorts than I'm just finishing up making are made from a Man's pattern. Jalie 2216. They seem to be fitting great, I haven't had the opportunity to ride in them yet though. I need to get the elastic in the waist and hem the legs then they will be finished.
I'm going to be using the man's pattern for a jersey as well, so we'll see how much alterations I'll need to do to make it fit. I didn't do anything to the shorts pattern. They are just a simple 4 panel short and I've not had anything else so I'm not going to be much good to compare either sorry.

I wore mens shorts for years - there wasn't any other choice out there. This spring for the first time I bought some womens shorts and am not pleased! I don't like the way the WSD chamois fits me and I keep tugging and hitching the shorts to try and make them sit better. My intent over the winter is to go back to mens shorts - a short at a time!

I've only ever worn small mens shorts and I've no complaints about them. They fit just fine and have been really comfy. :)

I tried a pair of my husband's and never gave them back. I have a lot of trouble with narrow, multi-layered shammies - just can't seem to keep 'em arranged comfortably.
