for how many miles do you keep your tires (road bike)?

I don't track miles, but when they start to look worn they've got to go!

I think my last pair lasted a whopping a 260 miles or something.
Mostly, I'd just go with how they look. If they're starting to look worn out, perhaps it's time to replace.
5000 to 8000 km. (So no more than 5,000 miles or so)
It will totally depend on the tire and the conditions in which you ride... a soft racing tire won't last nearly as long as a harder rubber randonneuring model. Replace your tires if they have any big cuts or nicks, if the sidewalls look like they are getting cracked, if the tire surface has worn to the point it looks a bit flattened rather than being rounded.

I use bontrager race lites which go between 3500 - 5000 miles average which for the riding I do, is a bit more than most people get out of them. When they start to look worn or have too many super blue spots on them I will if possible) replace the front one first, wear it in for about 500 miles and then put a brand new one on the front and swithc the front tire to the back. But it also depends a lot on what my riding conditions are. I would not hesitate to replace them both at the same time if neccesary. I will add that I am very careful to check my tires after each ride and will replace a tire rather than have to change a flat tire. I also tend to keep them inflated to 115 psi which is just below the max 120.

I usually replace mine before the start of the season, although at times I wait until May or so. I ride between 2,500 and 3,000 miles a year.
Like Marni, I keep my tires inflated fairly high and check them before every ride. I have had 2 flats in 10 years and one was from the actual tire being cut on a century ride.

My continentals actually have wear indictors made into the tire. My last set I waited too long and flatted, now once the indicator starts to go, I replace them. It's about once a year.

I take my Conti GP4000s down to the wear bars too. I normally get 1800-2000 from a rear and 3500-4000 front.

Can anyone with the 25mm Zaffiro Pro Slicks give me a ballpark of what sort of mileage I can expect? I have about 2300 miles on them and they still look great--still not even a single flat *knocks on wood*. Hubby gets ~2k from his Contis, but he's also 240-250#s, depending upon the season.

I get about 3000 miles or so on my tires or until they start looking square.
