I love those features in magazines where they ask about your handbag and the contents. So, for my amusement - what kind of bags do you have on your bike and what all do you keep in it? (i also love the unusual and unexpected things.)
Pictures would be great too.

I have a seat bag and Axiom Magellen rack/trunk bag. In the seat bag I keep tools and patch kit and attach my keys to the key lanyard inside the bag. In my trunk bag (I'm a 3 day a week commuter-- 15 miles one way) I keep sunblock, granola bars, lunch, and sometimes a book to read on my lunch break. Side pockets usually contain, spare cash (emergency use), wallet, and maps.
Nothing too unusual but, I just started commuting

The only unusual thing is the remote control to the garage door opener.

I have an Altura Fusion day pack on my Bob Jackson and in it are,
2 spare inner tubes
Park glueless patches
tacx tyre levers
Topeak Mini9 multi tool
Park mini-chain brute chain tool
I pair of surgical gloves
SKS mini-pump
1 dustbin liner ( for putting on the ground under bars and seat if I need to turn the bike upside down to fix p*ncture while on a ride).
Hi-viz cycling waterproof jacket
a few wet-wipes in a poly-bag for hand cleaning
My iphone would also be in the bag while I'm out on a ride but obviously doesn't live there all the time.

In the bag on the top tube: pocket pack of tissues, cell phone (in plastic bag, in case of rain), inhaler, maybe some gu, yellow lenses for sunglasses if sunset is possible during ride.
In seat wedge: stuff to repair flat tire, mini-tool, band-aids in various sizes, teeny bottle of hand sanitizer, keys, jimi wallet with ID etc., and a tampon.

I have the larger-sized Topeak wedge bags, the one that's expandable, since I'm one of those people who feels the need to carry everything but the kitchen sink with them. In it, I have:
-2 spare tubes
-a tampon
-CO2 inflator plus two cartridges
-A power gel, in case I run out or forget my Clif blocks.
-Alien XS multitool with chain tool
-tire levers
-tiny notebook (the pencil has disappeared)
-a few doses of benadryl
-a couple bandaids.
I really want a tiny comprehensive first aid kit, or at least condiment-type packages of antiseptic ointment and the like. Any suggestions?
I'm going to start carrying around a headless doll just in case someone ever stops me to ask that.

Unless it's like the 15-year-old kid the LBS at home employs, largely for sales but they're teaching him some of the mechanical stuff too. :D In which case, well, he needs to learn this stuff anyway. No one ever died of embarrassment. (And if I take my bike to the shop, the bag comes off anyway.)

Jelly Belly Sport Beans?
I love the fruit punch ones, but I can't find them here anymore. They also turned my tongue a crazy bright pink color!

Owlie,
I think you must have been looking in my bag when you wrote this list! I also have a couple bucks and a small tube of sunscreen.

I'd rather have some guy at the LBS find my tampon than be caught without when I need it.
And since they have no need to look in my seat bag, it serves them right if they snoop around and find something that freaks them out. Which is another reason to pack that headless doll..

Just the normal stuff.
Tube, CO2 inflater, two cartridges, patch kit, Topeak Alien II multi-tool (everything you could ever conceivably want, weighs a ton, but good for the boonies), tire levers, brake cable, derailleur cable, three links of chain, master link, Epi-Pen, emergency blanket, retractable cable lock.
That's it. Back-up mini-pump lives on my frame, everything else goes in the jersey pockets.

I'm going to start carrying around a headless doll just in case someone ever stops me to ask that.
If you are going to carry the doll body headless in your bag... may I have the head itself to carry in mine after you rip it off?:)
Though, I hope it's a Barbie Doll because my Krieg bag wouldn't hold something bigger.
Hmm, something weird in the bag... well, Krieg bags themselves are unusual...
I got notta outta the ordinary atm:
1tube, tire levers, 1CO2 w/strips of cut duct tape on cartridge, mini CO2 inflate head, Ziplock snack baggie w/2Advil, few crisp dollar bills, house key, and cell phone usually can get jammed in the Kreig bag last thing... asthma inhailer & Cliff Shot Blocks + Lara bars in jersey pockets.
OH... and I will have a Barbie Doll head when Zen gives that up:D.
I think if I tie the Barbie Doll hair to the blinky light strip on the back of the Krieg bag, it will all fit then... yea, that's my plan... cool, I'm set:cool:.
I'm hitting the dollar store asap

Thanks! I'm just back in the saddle and haven't stocked my bag in so long, I'm getting ideas and trying to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.
Something I carry in my handbag that seems weird but I use constantly - a tape measure. Won't be needing that in my bag though. Well, I guess I could on occasion.
sorry...I didn't mean too weird. Bad choice of words.

My seat bag contains: patch kit, tire levers, small folding bike multi-tool thingy (given to me by a friend of the family when he got a fancier one), a $10 bill, a couple of bus tickets, a few bandaids, and some tiny packs of neosporin appropriated from the first aid kit at work. There's space for my keys, but it's rare for me to actually put them in there.

jersey pockets:
left- gu and chamois butter two packs of each
center- wallet with credit card, cash and a copy of drivers license for suplemental id
ight- cell phone and key to car parked in driveway so I can get at garage door opener and a cotton bandana for wiping, bracing, bandaging and whatever.
Underseat bag- two spare tubes, patch kit, CO2 inflation kit with 2 cartridges, two tire levers, Park multi tool, another spare gu and a church key in the shape of a bicycle.
Around the seat bag are two large elastic type bands as tourniquets, strapping the frame pump onto something as a brace strapping something around my waist or whatever and around my bike frame are a couple of spare velcro type straps., (ditto). In addition I carry a topeak frame pump and two bottles- one is always water which doubles for dumping on head, cleaning out scrapes and cuts.
as for getting my hands dirty chaning tires- I always wear black shorts so I can spit and sipe and then rinse with water.
My operating motto has always been three pockets- good to go. I did the cross country this way because we had adequate support every 2030 miles and I can always find a gas station or the like for anything else I need which is why I carry a low limit credit card and some cash.

"After that I put a big Super Plus in there.
Haven't caught him since. "
Oh, that's great! Maybe you need a headless doll, too. (Geez, how rude of the guy to go through your seatbag. Too bad you didn't have a set mousetrap in there.)
I usually have two bags on my bike. Seatbag holds the usual: spare tube, CO2 dispenser and tubes, multitool, tire levers, and I think there's a little patch kit in there, too.
I have a ginormous handlebar bag which holds all kinds of stuff, but usually paper towels, lubricant, disposable gloves, a couple of bungee cords, bungee netting, Band-aids in several sizes, gauze, Bactine wipes, Neosporin, moist towelettes ("Moist Towelettes" strikes me as either a great or horrible name for a band; can't decide which. Or porn star twins.), batteries (AA and AAA), mini lights (one white, one red, just in case), and in the other zippered compartment, trail mix, a couple of Luna bars, reflector bands, and when I'm riding, my phone, keys, wallet, and sometimes a spare bottle of water.

LOL. thanks- the main reason is that I have enough difficulty hauling my own self around without hauling all sorts of other stuff around. Plus I figure I can always make do. Fortunately, tampons are no longer a necessary issue. :)

Muirenn--you might want to pack your seatbag with confetti. Whoever opens it will have some 'splainin to do.
Or you could put one of those pop-out snakes in and make the culprit scream and pee in their pants. That would work, too.

In addition to the normal stuff, I keep a pair of latex gloves (from any at home hair highlighting kit), and a wipie.
The latex gloves come out when I need to change a rear tire flat. No chain grease and tire grime all over me at the end. Wipies come in handy for chain ring tattoos or other grimey grit.

The seat bag on my mountain bike has a spare derailleur hanger and a spare suspension link, in addition to the normal stuff. Beats walking out...
My roadies' seat bags are pretty average...flat repair stuff, a multi tool, etc.

Wow--mine seems positively boring in comparison. My seat bag is mainly for flats--one spare tube, two irons, a bit of cash, ID, and some ibuprofen. My pockets always contain a bandana (I do not do rockets, ladies), my keys, my phone, lip stuff, a bit of food (a gel or bar), and another ID. On the frame, I have a pump and two bottles of water. That's about it.

Let's see:
Allen wrench
screwdriver
patch kit
lock
key ring
pocket knife
cell phone
Jimi wallet - stuffed
glasses case (I like both my cool shades for riding and the fashion glasses for indoors)
gum
chap stick
packet of Emergen-C
grocery bag (one of those fold-into-itself cloth things the health food store sells)
No, I don't travel light, but I am prepared for most contingencies.

My saddle bag isn't very big but I have managed to stuff it full of the normal, boring stuff.
Inner tube
2 CO2 cartridges
Inflator for the CO2 cartridges
Patch kit
Allen wrenches
$10
Skinny pair of reading glasses so I can see to change a flat
Patch kit
Copy of my driver's license with contact info on the back
A couple of band aids

I just wish I rode a large enough frame to accommodate a lot of this stuff! :p My bag is so jammed full I have to take it completely off the bike to put my lock back into it, let alone fix a flat.
