I did my first metric century on Saturday. It was awesome. It was just hubs and I riding in the HOT Texas heat. I think it was right at 100 degrees when we got back to the truck. Wasn't bad except when we had to stop. I wore my cool wings for the first time. They worked out great and did not make me feel claustrophobic like the pearl izumi ones did. They were not a whole lot cooler than bare arms, but they protected my arms from the sun. I wore my sunscreen underneath them because the de soto information says that the wings only block uvb rays.

The last 10 min of our ride, we followed an ice cream truck in a neighborhood. Of course all I could think about was ice cream. Hubs and I decided to drop the bikes off and go to pacuigo (gelato shop). Get home, change clothes, and we are out the door in 5 min...then I fell down the one step on my porch. I knew it was bad when I felt my ankle bone touch the ground. I had a huge bump come up immediately on my foot. I hobbled back into the house and hubs said we should probably go to the urgent care clinic to get it checked because it was looking really bad. We sat there for awhile, then i asked if it would be really bad if we went to pacuigo before the urgent care clinic. So off we go again, hubs dropped me off in front of the shop and then parked the car. We enjoyed out ice cream, then went to the clinic. Thankfully nothing is broken or torn, just a nasty sprain. No biking or running for me for awhile :-(

Congratulations. I would have gone for the ice cream first, too.
Glad nothing is really hurt.
