Happiness comes with age?

Because of some recent discussions here about aging, I thought this article (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/01/health/research/01happy.html?src=me&ref=homepage)from the NY Times might be of interest.

Seems to be true of my father. He's much happier as an octogenarian than he was at fifty. I'm very encouraged by his elderly experience. He's having a ball. He took up an instrument about 20 years ago, and now he has several gigs a week. He's got lots of friends and his calendar is always booked with something he wants to do. He doesn't seem to do anything he doesn't want to do. I want to be him when I grow old (minus the pills).

As a younger man, he worked three jobs and argued with my mother in his spare time. It was a blast, I'm sure. :rolleyes:
