I thought the Tour de Cure would be my first "official" event/ride, but have decided that it would be better to have something smaller than that first. So I am going to participate in a club ride that is in conjunction with a trails fundraiser in Brownsburg this Saturday. It is too late to register for the official ride, but I can use the sag stop, just have to pay for lunch if I want it.

This will at least give me a chance to see what it feels like to start with other cyclists and to ride around others, at least for a short time. I suspect they will be faster than I and I will have the chance to enjoy the morning spinning along on my own. We will see :) So far I have one ridden with two other people, and we were not close to each other - one was well ahead of me while the other was well behind me, I mean just in sight distance. They were smart :p

Tour de Cure, Indianapolis is only 11 days away :D  :D

You'll do fine. I find the group rides are fun, you get into pace lines if you're game to try them. In general, you're out for a ride, and you're not riding alone. In general there are riders of all skill levels, from the elite to those that are completely happy to plod along. Also, I find repeating the same event year after year is even more fun as you get to know riders, volunteers, and event sponsors.

I've done that ride before. It's a nice one. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes!

Good luck to you and have a great time! It is a lot of fun starting out on those large group rides. Great experience getting you ready for the TdC!! :)
