99 kms. --normally this ride is approx. 104 kms. but new bike path sections around a busy new road bridge chopped off some mileage.
Went up to 16 degrees C or so. Sunny with some cloud. At around 30 kms. we went to our favourite Italian paninni and gelato place. So I wolfed down a heated proscuitto and brie pannini, coffee and 2-flavoured demi-balls of gelato (tiramisu & kiwi). :p Thereafter for next 30 kms. there would be no decent places to eat out the suburban areas by rivers, park, etc. And more climbing of some hills.
I actually needed this. Even though it was having gelato at 11:00 am.
We ended the ride by the waterfront here (http://cyclewriteblog.wordpress.com/2010/05/16/under-the-shadow-of-giant-sparrows-sharing-public-space-at-olympic-and-paraolympic-village-open-house/), by sharing a small container of sushi from a Japanese grocery store homeward. Have never seen so many cyclists and pedestrians in this area. And some of the public buildings haven't been finished yet.
