This may be something silly to cheer about - but I am finally back in the same bra size that I wore in my 20s!

I got a bra fitting at Macy's yesterday and I am back in a 36C (actually 36.5C but they don't make such a thing) - for years I've been a 38D and I've known for some time that all of my bras were too large - but kept cinching the straps up as I am cheap - well, not really, just wanted to spend on bike stuff :D

I also bought a few tops yesterday at a sale at Macys - and something is just wrong with sizes these days! I bought tops in "small" - but I am 140 pounds! I should NOT be fitting a small... Ok no more grumbling in the lack of standardized sizes... :) So after grumbling I can't complain about NOT fitting in a small Jersey!

Yay for you!!

And I know what you're talking about when it comes to clothes sizes - they call that "Vanity Sizing" and it drives me crazy!! How the heck can I possibly fit into a size 6 slacks at one store, and 10 or 12's from another?!?! Makes shopping extremely frustrating!!

I celebrate my 62 birthday and 5 years of weight loss (thanks to working with a trainer, distance biking and 6-8 hours a week doing weight, resistance and cardio at the gym, by putting both legs into 1 leg of a pair of jeans that used to fit me, without having to overlap my legs or squeeze severely! whoo hoo!

anyone interested can see the photo on marni harang/ facebook.com

It ain't easy but it can be done, one day one meal ,or even just one pound at a time

My biking mantra is ride, breath sleep and my diet mantra is exercise, eat senibly at a 500 calorie deficit and repeat until you have lost 125 pounds.

Marni - awesome job! I don't have as much weight to loose, but it sounds like we are going about it in the same basic fashion. Of course part of the process for me has been to learn HOW to ride a bike, but the spinning classes have been very helpful as well as I build enough skills to be able to take longer rides.

As far as the vanity sizing is concerned, it was extremely apparent 40 pounds ago when I could wear 6 different sizes depending on the brand - that was just wrong!

I topped off my diet process today by buying a strapless bra for the new dress ( I now have two stepping out dresses) I bought for my sons' up coming graduation, along with his finacee (Ph.d's all around) and marriage.

It was an hilarious experience all around from being embarrasing to just plain out silly. I knew I was in trou ble when they all started laughing after the matronly little italian lady asked me what my bra size was and I replied " size medium in a sports bra" and they all looked distressed and tried very hard not to laugh. By the end of the hour, I had perfected the "justa scoop along the outside of your breast with four fingers and toss them in there and then gently tuck, two fingers only around the top" like a pro.

I got the bra, and figure I do some decorative crimping or possibly scotch tape the little ripple of extra skin around the top to add to the effect.

I haven't had aa real bra for about 20 years and forgotten what a hoot bra shopping is. This will probably be the one and onlly strapless bra and the last "real bra" I ever buy as right now my tataas mostly resemble two over easy fried eggs sliding downhill.
