View Full Version : Stupid feet that fall alseep!

Ok ladies--I need some help.

In all of my tris that are longer than a sprint AND in my bricks that have runs that are more than 3 miles, my feet fall asleep on the run. After 3 miles of running, I do not feel my feet anymore. I feel like I am running on ankles--seriously. I swear it slows me down, because I obsess and worry and stress about my stupid feet. I have tried bigger running shoes, alas, they still fall asleep.

So here are some suggestions that I have heard, but I would LOVE to hear from you, because I am getting a bit irritated.

1. Compression socks -- but when?

2. New bike fitting

3. Electrolyte imbalance

4. New bike shoes

Anyone else loose their feet during tris?!? Driving me nuts!

I don't have this problem, but maybe it's muscular and a quick stretch in transition (or figuring out what it is and correcting it in your riding posture and/or fit) would help? Do you have any soreness afterward that's connected to your feet in that way - heels, ankles, shins, calves, hip flexors, hamstrings? When does it stop?

I think you'd feel something with your nutrition earlier or in a different way... your rides have gotten longer and I'd think you'd have trouble late in those rides, too, if it was just that.

If I understand you correctly, it only happens when you're transitioning from bike to run? So this doesn't happen on regular runs or rides?

I don't think I have any suggestions, but want to make sure I understand.

Only on bike to run, and only a few miles into the run. I never feel it before or after. I know, it is really bizzare!

Total guess, but I wonder if you've got a muscle compressing a nerve - or a joint imbalance - that's only in just the wrong place for running when you've been on the bike first?

I've had some knee issues in the past that intermittently sent numb-shocks into my feet, is why I think of this. It was all about the joint alignment - and that's something that I would think could change from sport to sport.
