I went to a meeting. I forgot my clipboard temporarily for 15 min.
Then by the end of day, when I got home, I didn't have my clipboard...again. I checked last place ...sigh. It's nowhere. Now the backtracking tomorrow..
And all because I rarely carry a purse anymore. Either I'm cycling, carrying a pannier or I carry a leather portfolio case which includes clipboard, wallet, etc. Otherwise I will forget SOMETHING when wallking around, sitting down somewhere and having 2 different items with me.

No purse here. If I carry a bag of some sort its a sling bag or backpack.

Hope tomorrow's better shootingstar. :)
I gave up handbags (= your purses I think) years ago too. Now it's just a few cards/ID/cash in a cell phone pouch on a strap across the body (off the bike). Keys clip onto the strap clip, so hands are free but the necessities are always attached. Trickier with clipboard thoughs, but I tend to use backpacks for anything bigger.

Hard to give up a purse, comes in really handy when shopping - you don't have to take a store bag (so many stores will ask if you want a bag now, I feel better when I don't have to take one). I tend to carry a larger purse or tote that can handle purchases up to the size of a bottle of wine, my agenda, receipts, etc. If I am running out quickly, that's different, it's just my wallet, and that is a small billfold that can be quickly flipped open to show as ID boarding a plane.
Days that I commute to work, no purse - those are pannier days!

Actually I have a leather knapsack style (small) purse..but still left behind that darn clipboard.
And it had my resume inside. :( I'm really ticked off at myself.
I am not a tote bag woman at all. I never was. Before I returned to cycling, I just carried a purse or portfolio case, latter if I was going to work.
Most tote bag straps are too long for me..the bag drags near the floor. Useless. It's made for a 5'5" person, not 5'1" person. I have too many tote bags from conferences and also from stores that have given freebies.

Bags of all sorts are easy to sew, and you can make the straps any length you want.

I'd carry something smaller if I didn't need to carry reading glasses  and an epi-pen.
I've thought about getting a portfolio for when I'm carrying a small file to a meeting (out of my building), thus have a small briefcase and my purse. It would be easier to only have one bag.

shootingstar, where did u leave it? if it has yr resume then someone shld figure out that it's yrs...
when i'm moving ard the school i have a medium sized basket tote where i throw in all my markers, random stationary, water bottle and i have a small wristlet on my desk. when i am at school i stuff my 2 phones inside and some cash and that keeps me company for the day(in case i wanna grab a snack without going to my bag in the office to get money/ the kids forgot their lunch money) i just stuff it into the tote along with everything else. then there are the sacks of papers i lug back and forth from class to staff room. I use recyclable cloth bags from shops/ supermarkets.
the other day i was rushing ard doing something and i left my phones in the wristlet on top of someone's cupboard near the copier, and no one saw it. I freaked out coz i thought i left it in the canteen. fortunately managed to backtrack.
back and forth from home, usually its the same backpack everyday so that I don't forget essentials like staff pass and house keys. I just transfer my phones back into the backpack. It's also big enough to bring home some worksheets for grading and my lunch boxes.

If your conference tote bags have the same length straps as mine, then they're plenty long to sling over your shoulder (especially as slim as you are).
Hoping no one takes advantage of anything they find in your clipboard. :(

I think I am done with purses forever myself as well.
When I have one, and the dang thing gets fuller and fuller = heavier and heaveir = shoulder pain... I ask myself: "what am I REALLY doing with all this junk anyway?!?!".
I carry a cute little Coach wristlet. It's perfect for what I really need. Plus, you can just let if hand off the arm while shopping etc. That way attached to the body, you don't lose it.
SS... I hope your missing stuff turns up soon!
