I get election day off :) Forecast of >70 F, no clouds, lots of sun, it was time for a ride!
I planned a 21 mile ride, planned an extension of my route but found to my chagrin that the "extra" part of my route were not paved roads... however I still wound up with an 18 mile ride that felt fantastic - and the ONLY walking I did was over deteriorated sections of a country road or two where they had replaced the pavement with gravel.
I may get a chance to take my LHT out later, we shall see. I am not tired and don't have anything else pressing outside of visiting my LBS with my LHT to discuss a few things....
Why did it take 50 years to discover cycling? Am very glad I have now :D

Speedway, Indiana! I've been there. We bought our airplane at the little airport next to the track. Also ran the half-marathon. I believe it's speed weeks, there--isn't it?

There isn't an airport there any more... and the HM is next weekend. There are indeed track activities all of the May building up to the Indpls 500 - for which I will be out of town :)

I did a quick 5 AM "dark ride," except that it's not really so dark out at 5 AM anymore! Actually didn't get out until about 5:15, so we opted for the short, flat route, instead of the 2 ten percent grade hills ride that is a little longer.
Ten and a quarter miles, with the sun coming up around 5:30. Got back by around five 'til six, hopped in the shower, drank my coffee and grabbed a quick yogurt and was off to work at 7:00.
I love going out on these early AM rides. People here get up so late, there's hardly anyone up and about. Now that it's getting light earlier, I did see 3 riders today, one of them when it was still kind of dark, with no lights. Those ten miles feel as good as 30 at that time of the morning.

Today was my first outdoor ride up here, rather than driving 2+ hours to find nice weather. My training schedule called for a 3 1/2 hour ride. I took the trail along the river down to Lake Tahoe and rode the road along the west shore of the lake. We're between tourist seasons, so the drivers were mostly locals and gave me lots of room.
About 2 hours into it my low back started to ache, but I toughed it out, looked at the pretty scenery, and made the full 3 1/2 hours. It ended up being 56 miles. I'm very happy with that.

A quick ride with DH after my faculty meeting today. My legs are still a bit stiff and sore from my 3-State 3-Mountain century last weekend. However, I felt much better today compared to my recovery ride yesterday so things are returning to normal. The weather is absolutely perfect today and we can only hope this super trend continues.

Rode around 32 kms. Beautiful weather.
Dearie was pissed off at me since we had planned to meet up and ride together. But our communication got mixed up and we missed each other. He did spend about 25 min....trying to find me along the way.
anyway, with a new bike, I really feel the need to keep an eye on the baby..while I have a coffee along the way. Good thing there was seating outdoors and it was warm enough today.
